I knew a guy who did field work for an archive. Some famous early 20th century author had died and left everything to his daughter. One day she decided to donate all of his correspondence to the university. The author had just dumped all of his letters in a barn on his property and the field archivist had to go to the barn and pick through and sort a pile of letters that was literally 8 feet tall.
