I\'m afraid I don\'t have any tutorials, but I have some well-done examples that can be studied:

I\'d imagine it\'s pretty similiar to doing wood grain...?

Except the lines would be parallel (Except for folds and curves etc) and in blue!

Have a look at the thread further down.

LouW does great jeans too....

Especially the jean shorts on the bottom guy..

I asked him once how to do them, but I have since forgotten....which really irritated me because I just recently wanted to do some.

Anyhow, I think it was a lighter blue color, followed by a darker heavy wash of blue. Then lightly drybrush with white, which helps with that faded worn look. Then wash again with the darker blue in the less worn areas....

Here was my attempt

I tried jeans only once:

Munchkin

I went with more the worn look. here you have both the blue and brownish tan of the threading showing through. I believe I started with a darkish blue, did a light dark brown wash to get a dirty feel, then highlighted up to a mid/light blue. Then on top of that went straight to a dirty white layer. It\'s been a while since I did him, I forget exactly!

I dont have any pics, but try highlighting a dark blue with an ivory or even bleached bone almost drybrushed for some layers... then thin glazes of black and brown ink.

Dont forget to over-highlight the bum and thigh/knees where the wear and tear is gonna be ;)

I have Romeo\'s 54mm Trailboss sitting on my workbench and I\'ve been giving painting jeans some thought.

I\'ve been thinking about trying to copy Hardy Tempest\'s method of distressed clothing (and one of the best at this, IMO. Although he\'s an oil painter I think his method could be converted into acrylics.

But rather than removing the paint in a stippling motion (a luxury we acrylic painters don\'t have), I think adding paint in a stippling motion, \"stabbing\" the paint on rather than drybrushing, in lighter and lighter shades and then tie it all together with a very, very translucent wash might work...

Here is Hardy\'s homepage http://www.hardytempest.moonfruit.com/ for you to admire and get inspired by. Look at the pilot article to get some ideas of what I\'m talking about...
