Just a quick question

Hi,

This might be a silly question, but if you were to paint the light cast by a fire, onto flesh, walls, furniture etc. would you use reds/oranges/yellows or something lighter, like yellows and whites?

Thank you!

You\'d have to use different colours on different materials. Just because a fire casts an orange light doesn\'t mean everything will be monochromatic. The light will affect differently coloured surfaces differently, depending on colours.

Depends on the distance from the flame and the colour of the fire itself.

Best thing to do is work from photographic references or from paintings of similar subjects.

Edit: the paintings linked on to in this thread are a start.
