I\'m posting a \"post your work station thread\". I know. I hear the moans starting already. Just do it! It\'s good for you! Makes you actually think about cleaning it up now and then!

I got a 2nd set of shelves for the back of my table so now I can have my tubs of paint AND my drawers of junk in the same place. I have a lazy susan thingy of crap craft paint and another of tubs of basing stuff behind the screen as well as in a basket back there as well. I also have 6 plastic drawers in the closet full of basing stuff. The varied grey toned tower is full of minis and because of Donna I have as many again in the closet. The stuff is endless!

Here\'s mine:

and in honor of fall I got new flowers too. I\'m girly after all.

I\'m afraid my workspace is not as organized. Not organized at all would probably be a better description.

Edit: Here\'s pictures of my dark little corner. I decided to tidy things up a bit as there are ladies present :)

workspace3.jpg

Here we have a bunch of plastic buckets filled with mostly paint. Those are completely filled. In the grey cases are the paints that I use most frequently and take to various shops in town to run painting classes. Full range of Citadel Color, all the washes, a few foundations, and all P3 paints except for the metallics.

On the left side of this desk is my computer. Behind us would be bookshelves filled with Warhammer stuff and a few of my oil paintings.

You can see a little in the picture, but yes, I did paint my walls Shadow Grey :D

1. Old WIP stuff of a couple armies of mine. It\'s my personal stuff, hence why it\'s not completed. Yes it\'s being stored on a McDonald\'s serving tray. They work great for transporting armies! Don\'t ask me how I got it!!
2. Coat D\'Arms paints. Nearly all of them.
3. Some basing stuff (big bucket of static grass, gravel, and bulk amounts of clump foliage from Woodland Scenics.
4. Old GW paints, Rackham paints, and a few reapers.
5. Basing things. I bought a bunch of the Gale Force Nine hobby containers and have all different kinds of materials in those.
6. Vallejo paints.
7. Overstock of GW paints and P3 paints.
8. Overstock of GW paints and a few OOP ones.
9. Random junk containers. I used to hold my brushes and things in them, now they aren\'t used much. The jar in the back was made in a ceramics class back in high school.
10. WIP commission pieces. Currently Eldar and Bretonnians. Cup of paint water on a Pug coaster. :)

now THOSE are shelves lol, as you can tell, am not organised, i have a habit of working on serveral things at once. At the moment my work station is actually quite tidy their with just a few bits of sculpting stuff and my putty oven in action, concentrating on a single project at the mo, so no dirty water or pots of paints anywhere, just far, far to many unfinished projects :drunk:

Why does it look like a trend is developing here? Computers on/in the same work space as one\'s computer? That almost sound like a pain in the arse, like \"Let\'s see paint or bum around on the net/ play Wow? Hum...\"

Oh and Liz, why not put your tower on the floor and have the monitor on a shelf with room under it for your mouse and keyboard to be tuck away. More room for painting :D

That\'s exactly why I stopped playing WoW, and have moved my painting station from directly in front of my computer to a spot next to it :) Now I can\'t even see the monitor while I paint, since the tower is between it and me. I just have Pandora or iTunes going on my headphones, and kick back and paint!

Mine is set up with my painting station between my pc and the TV, partly because of space, partly because I use my PC for reference SO much, it\'s just convinient that way.
However, I have two work areas, one for painting, one for building. I get a lot more work done at the desk without the PC.

Well, for me it\'s more convenient: while I\'m waiting for something to dry, I can surf the web real quick or type out a few paragraphs (or pages, if the creative juices are really flowing). Also, I watch baseball games on my computer when they\'re not on TV.

And I\'m not even going to try and tidy my work area up right now; too many projects going at once:

@DarkMessiah: I\'d love to have a light tent set-up right next to my painting area like yours. I see you\'re using energy saver bulbs. What wattage are they and how do pictures turn out with those?

well im just in the middle of converting a cupbaord into my new \'studio\' so the little one can have the old room. nearly done, i am very excited about having paints on their own little shelves instead of having to pull 10 out just to find the one i want at the moment of the box

Sadly, I am reduced to painting on a sheet of newspaper on the kitchen table. This apt. simply doesn\'t have room for my computer desk, my GF\'s sewing/writing/computer desk, AND a dedicated painting space :(

As for a computer sharing a space with painting, I can see the benefit when it comes to looking up reference material etc. But the temptation to procrastinate is such a danger lol

when it comes to my pc i usually watch tv/movies on it, well half watch, iv always lived in noisy places so havin the background noise actually helps me concentrate, although i cant watch subbed anime, reading and painting is far beyond my manly multi-tasking abilities :innocent:

@Dragonsreach - Thats coz Gen.Poleaxe swings by and hoovers them all up! suppose it saves him rooting through bins though lol

@Hinton - I wish i had ur space mate, looks like uv got a whole table all to urself, lucky beggar! :drunk: as for the bulbs iv got 30 watt daylight bulbs in the black lamps (equiv to 150watt) and a 15 watt daylight bulb in the anglepoise, their about 6400kelvin in colour. As for pics, the bulbs are extremely bright, as in blinding bright, iv got two light tents and when i use the light cube i barely need to adjust the white balance, i cant see how u could get more cost effective lighting that does the same job. i got my bulbs here Ebulb.com

@The ever charming Amazon Warrior - What do you expect!!! if you had to walk around in really heavy armour all day ud wiff a bit!! :cussing:
The poor guy, he hasnt even been painted yet and he is getting bullied by the cmon community! :(

@DM: Thanks for the info on the bulbs. And yeah, my desk is pretty big; 3 feet by 4 feet and all mine. It\'s about the only advantage to being single (otherwise it just sucks).

Being single can be great fun! You can re-arange everything to how YOU want it, you don\'t have people looking over your shoulder telling you you\'re painting it wrong even though they can\'t really SEE what you\'re painting, you can stay in all morning if you want...........erm..........I sound like someone newly seperated don\'t I? Sorry

My table is 3\'x5\'. It\'s an old 6 person dining table. That\'s why I leave the tower on top. I\'d get a pull out keyboard thingy but there\'s a skirting board around the bottom of the table so the keyboard thingy wouldn\'t be able to tuck underneith when I wanted it to. I could do with that space for basing though. I hate basing on my painting table. Static grass in evil.

At first (after I got over the whole \"she cheated and lied and she\'s leaving me for another guy\" thing) it was great fun being single. However, after dating a wonderful woman and then having to break off the relationship, being single kind of blows.

But oh, well...life goes on.

And now, back to our regular thread topic...

Hinton, I know that really must suck knowing the woman in question. I\'ll buy you a round or two as well. <sigh>

Donna, I only use the can to ....... well ...... dust the inside of the computer, the keyboard and any minis I\'ve left uncovered and need to work on. I guess that\'s a lot.
