I am going to try and get a better camera and get a decent photo taken. I kinda like the colour scheme, I wanted something a little different, and after painting Ultramarines for years I decided to give this a go. So instead of death by blue its death by Yellow:beer:

I\'m bumping into the same thing, DaN.
You\'re asking for opinions and trying to improve so I\'m going to be totally honest. I hope it doesn\'t sound harsh but I think you have a long way to go on some basic concepts. I think it comes down to this.
Painted like this, the mech (or whatever the heck that is... I\'m not a 40k guy) seems like a couple big pieces. Kinda like a office building with no windows or doors and all the signs are blank. It seems oddly featureless.
On a smaller model you may be able to get away with it, but this thing screams out for more definition between the different plates and panels and struts and whatnot.
I don\'t think you need to introduce a bunch of new colors, but if you use some shading or black lining to provide distinction where the sculptor\'s carved it, you\'ll be moving in a good direction. Then if you can pick out a couple details with your metallics, you\'ll bring even more life to it.

It\'s a super simple color scheme but it has a lot of definition and some nice little accents and character bits tossed in the mix.
This one also is fairly simple, but again... the painter has really created some separation between the different components of the robot-thingy.

It has some big exhaust stacks on it\'s back, try painting in some soot around that area, unless it\'s \"green\"

Cake or Death?
Two comments.
First, your pictures don\'t really need a new camera; you just need to do some color correcting with Photoshop or GIMP. GIMP is free, so you should really check into that if you want to get more feedback on your future stuff. A google search should locate a download site no problem.
My biggest gripe about the actual paintjob is the neatness, especially on the chest. I would not suggest that you use maroon to shade that brown. If you do, however, the \"width\" of the crimson line should be uniform at all times. You have some parts of the chest where the crimson color invades some of the brown surface, and it appears sloppy. In the center of the chest, also, the brown runs into the recess, giving the impression of a lack of control. The Tau are a race of perfect lines and angles, all of which demands a very controlled style.
On the positive side, you seem to understand the highlighting of the surfaces. You use them sparingly, and where they will have the most effect. Combine this with neater shading and you\'re going to have a kick-bum army.

I am sorry guys, I guess I was over sensative, DaN I appologise, I was out of order, I picked the point up wrong. Once again Thank you to everyone who has helped me out here, This is my first Tau army and I am not used to taking pictures, my PC skills go as far as turning it on without the aid of a hammer.

One thing that may help with your photography is using a program which will allow you to adjust the levels of the photo. i threw one of yours in GIMP and here is the result:

DaN-I know the colours are different, as I said I am experimenting, and I was bored with looking at sand coloured Tau...ohh and I dont have a great selection of paints just yet
(as i said i have just restarted painting again) I am going to try and accentuate the pannelling like you suggested and I guess just practice more.

Search for GIMPshop. Makes it more like PS and a bit easier to use. When in doubt, right click on the picture for all your options.
