She's back......muhahaha!
Well sorta...I'm jumping in to say hi to everyone and that I MISS YOU GUYS!!!! I have been so swamped with the publishing my ebooks, that I have been going absolutely insane!
The good news, the crazy idea is doing a hell of a lot better than I ever imagined it would. The bad news,? I published all 7 of the novels that I had completed and were sitting around doing nothing. The only thing I had to do was edit and format them - okay, so that was a bit of a trick but it's a heck of a lot easier than the alternative. Which is...all of my completed stuff has been posted, and it seems folks want me to write NEW stuff...:tremble:
lol! Honestly, this has been a really great thing for me, so if I want to keep it going, well, gotta get back into the trenches.
Unfortunately, being an indie author means everything falls on my shoulders, not only writing but marketing, blogging, making sure I've got reviewers reviewing, Facebook, Twitter, meeting with my freelance editor, meeting with my freelance cover artists (at least we can do that on Google or Skype now. Anyway, it just never stops.
But...there was still one little problem...no time for miniature painting. :disapointed: I tried and I tried to figure out a way to do both, but it seemed like the creative part of my brain could only focus on one creative project at a time. That's why I had to disappear. I do apologize but I had no idea it would take on a life of it's own like this.
Anyway, sorry to bore y'all with the minutia there! I am very happy to report, I think I've stumbled on to a little process that allows me to get some painting in. For about the past four days - I think - I don't even know what day I'm on half the time - I've been working on about four different minis or so. One of the fun things is that I'm converting one to make it look like the character on the cover of my upcoming release.
And wow am I rusty - my paints are crap too. lol! I think I've stripped each piece about 4 times! And it sucks getting old! Even with my visor, I can't see worth crap. Time to get glasses (sigh) lol!
The fun thing is, I held a contest with some other writers and I offered the traditional prizes you'd expect from authors - but for the grand prize, I put up one of my small model horses that I painted years ago. Also had some minis up there as choices. They went NUTS over the this stuff. It was different and they loved it.
So, we're definitely going to see if I can keep juggling the bowling balls and chainsaws. It would be great if the mini painting works for contests and promotions.
But for those of you who know me also know it doesn't take me long to get into mischief. (And for those of you I haven't met yet, HI! I'm Kathryn Loch - the pigment lady...or the pigment and horsie person...I don't know...I'll let someone else explain it. lol!)
I have to get my latest manuscript to my editor by tomorrow. I have two very long scenes to re-vamp....I mean overhaul entirely and am absolutely STUCK. I hate writers block. So I'm going to go paint...and see what sort of trouble I can get myself into.
lol!
:beerwave:
I'm so jazzed that I'm finally able to see everyone again!!!
Cheers,
Kath
