Here he is so far, I'm posting a few stages in already but not too far.

I am going for a very blotchy and exotic fleshtone on this guy, and I think it's coming out nicely. I'm still getting the hang of attaching things, so the pics may not be all in order. Please C&C!

Ok I didn't do much work on him for about three weeks, but I did a lot fo the metals and other stuff today. Let me know how it's going! Possible GenCon entry I think.

This is nice looking. The metals are the most important part on this mini so you have to work on them a lot. Highlight them a bit more and also give them a little tint to make them look more real. All the metallics parts of the mini don't necessarily need to be painted exactly the same, all the metals are maybe not the same so it'll add a touch of reality if you have different tints in the metals.

Thanks cheelfy, I agree that it would be really in character for this guy to have mismatching metals. I will continue to work on them. Here's another update, with his hanging straps done up, as well as a lot of basework. If I add a title plaque to this guy, it may read "Rivers of Blood" =P. The bubbles will be fixed also. I also did his kilt in a yellowy brown then did the hem in blood. HAHA I love blood effects! And they just seem so... RIGHT for this figure. Anyway, here he is. Any thoughts on how he would do at a competition like GenCon?

I don't know what's GenCon's painting level but I know Golden Demon's, in a GD, if you improve a some areas, it could be a finalist.
Don't forget to paint blood on his mace, that'll make him look more violent as I see you like that.

Thanks cheelfy! It's not that I always necessarily like using copious amounts of blood, but rather this guy just screams it, IMO. Haha I hope it doesn't gross out the judges! I will post more updates soon, I did some bronze with verdigris, and some other details. Goat about 15 hours into him so far.

This is a really impressive mini! Is there anyway we can get a more closeup of the face? That purple looks brutal!

One close face shot, comin' right up! I also did some verdigris on his gauntlet, shoulder thingy, and kneeguard. Little improvements here and there, some lining, some metallics touched up... Let me know how it's going. Thanks for the praise, supervike.

Looking good so far DemonElf, is the club wood going to be painted up as per the shield? Keep it up, there's a lot of fiddly detail to keep you busy on this guy isn't there? The pink & yellow tones in the flesh are pretty strong, it'll be interesting to see it fully worked out :good:

Cheers, B.

Thanks BPI. The club wood is still up in the air. Honestly the difference in the sculpting of the wood and the fact that I basecoated differently makes me wonder if I should. Although, it does seem like that sort of two pronged symmetry would tie the mini together nicely. As for the pink and yellow: I like it a lot, but perhaps it is too strong in some areas. I'm waiting until I'm done with them metallics to make a decision as to glazing down the pink to a more natural color. I will do my best to update tonight, but unfortunately (fortunately?) the girlfriend takes precedence!
