No it\'s not! I\'m saying Kanye West can be racist, period.

He has made some distinctly racist public comments more than once over the past few years. And irrespective of this being widely acknowledged judging racist statements is a little like the classic definition for obscenity - can\'t define it but I know it when I see it.

I\'m not saying that anybody should be given a pass to be racist and I would say that they aren\'t. And by understandable I mean how is it racist recounting and retelling the past or simply giving their view on how they have been treated. You get an outlet in which you can portray things why cant people recount the ordeals they have been through?

I think Kanye West has said some stupid things without thinking but I wouldn\'t necessarily say he is a downright racist in the terms of a colour supremacist and a lot of the time he just seems to think he is \'so good\' that people need to hear his opinion. (when he should keep it to himself)

He said Bush doesn\'t care about black people, I think a good few million people felt the same but didn\'t have an outlet to tell it. It was world wide known that the government messed up after hurricane katrina.

I\'m not saying its right to be racist not at all, but i think some people turn a blind eye to racism in certain circumstances and that racism is still going to thrive while people base assumptions on stereotypes.

Just take words that people use, Asians did not call themselves \'oriental\' it was a term they got labeled by the traveling British. Just like African Americans didn\'t class themselves as \'niggers\' Americans labeled them that. As long as people class and label people racism will still continue.

Still point at hand Kanye is an arse for storming the awards show, whether Taylor Swift deserved the award or not it doesn\'t matter she won and should be aloud to celebrate and thank people how she wants too

\"Oriental\" was used as a generic descriptive for the peoples of China & Japan from the 18th Century. It\'s only in the 20th Century it started to become a considered a derogative.
\"Nigger\" Has been in use for a lot longer than America\'s existance and stems from the slave trade around the Niger river (modern day Nigeria).
Similarly \"Coon\" is a term which has is origins in the Cameroons, a peoples descended from shipwrecked sailors and Native West Coast Africans.

I have no time for Raciscm, people are people not labels. Skin Colour doesn\'t matter, we all bleed Red.

I\'m not saying I have time for racists either, I was just saying my point which is what I thought this thread was about.

Last i remember China and Japan are in Asia, and although it may not have been a derogatory statement until the 20th century it was still an ethnicity being labeled. As for \'nigger\' and \'coon\' like you said they have been used a long time before the example i gave but i was just suggesting my point that racism will continue due to such labels, I wasn\'t looking to be corrected due to lack of specifics

I have no time for racists either, I have an African heritage friend who spent a lot of his childhood being bullied by idiots who couldn\'t see through skin colour.

I also dont think that racism is the theme of this thread and tried to move it back to original point of an arse ruining somebodies moment of recognition

There certainly is an undercurrent of race in the news story, but you are right. The Kanye fella is a Jackass (to quote Mr. Obama) and that\'s got nothing to do with his skin color!

No point hating someone for the color of their skin, when if you take the time to really get to know them you can find so many other things to hate them for.
