So this guy robbed a bank and then won the lottery. Now he has to give it back.

This should be a lesson to us all . . . Karma exists apparently. That or, do a better job of not getting caught during a robbery. Either way there\'s a lesson to be learned

He doesn\'t have to give it back yet....he has a hearing on Dec 7.

...so the lesson could ultimately be something completely different.

The terms of his probation specifically state:

\"may not gamble, purchase lottery tickets or visit an establishment where gaming is conducted, including restaurants where Keno may be played.\"

He may not have to give the money back, but he did violate his probation. They might make a deal with him that if he gives the money back he won\'t go to jail, but who knows. Be interesting to see how this plays out.

You have to play to win....surely that wasn\'t the first ticket he bought...could they find out how many he played and hit him for every violation?

Probation is what you get instead of jail. Basically it\'s saying that instead of going to jail you get to walk around free, but there are certain restrictions as to what you can do.

If you go to jail, you\'re on parole when you get out.

Violating probation means that you serve the jail term that you would have if you hadn\'t been put on probation. So, they can get him for a probation violation, which means that he\'ll go to jail if it goes through. As far as what will happen to the money, who knows?

I\'d donate all the cash to charity very quickly, and when they try and get the cash for the robbery they\'ll have to go to the charities and ask for it. Of course, that\'d be a terrible thing to do to charities given money in good faith. A very awkward situation, and the fella would become somewhat of a hero
