Hi all, this is my latest fig. I wanted to do something a bit different with it so i decided to do NMM, OSL and weathering all on one miniature.
I\'m pretty happy with the results but i\'d like to know what you all think aswell, so any any comments would be great!
I\'ve uploaded 2 sets of pics, one in a white background and one in black.

Well of course it looks awsome, and it\'s very interesting to se how much the background can change the image of the figure. I like the dark background best, the osl stands out more.
The colours are a bit unusual for you, aren\'t they? (Edit: I mean they are quite dark and subdued) Looks very cool though.

I have to say I like the light background better! While the green light reflections stand out more in the dark one, the colours look softer and more easy on the eye in the first pic! The mini looks great, none the less. :)

Thanks anja, yes the colours are a bit unusual for my style. (he wouldn\'t look very hard in badmoon yellow!) ;) .The darker pic does look cool doesn\'t it? and there is a massive gap in scores again??? The black background seems to be doing better.

Absolutely brilliant, the darker pic definately suits the mini better. You are one of my favourite painters out there at the moment. I can only hope to make that standard one day before age and eyesight fail me.

I\'m hating you more and more Daz lol

Seriously awesome. The OSL, NMM and the addition of the flag are all simply PERFECT. I left one ironic comment and one friendly one :D

Loveley stuff, is the base rubble pre cast resin, and if not, what did you make it from?

I think the darker background is doing better as the osl really seems to glow against it, its a bit lost on the other.

I also think the Borrowers must have painted that aquilla on his noggin, its sooo tiny!!!

Daz,

Again nice work. I think the contrast between light and dark back grounds makes a world of differance. I find the dark is better, but Im curious what a mid point tone would do. I think the white reflects to much light and the dark not enough.

Do you have pictures of the back of the miniature?

Damn, that is just sweet. The dark picture does show the OSl better but i have to agree, the light background gives a softer look to the paint.

haven\'t voted but, the highlighting on the sword looks rough.

also, what\'s the deal with the three simular angles. bit pointless, one front and one back shot would have been far better.

nice work razza, just thought i would point out a couple of things i thought could be improved on.

look forward to seeing more of your work :)

The white background gives everything a purple tinge, while the black background gives everything a blue tinge. This is most evident on the sword.

But the colours seem more realistic with the black, im sure you didnt paint all the rocks with purple\'s mixed in.

Super paint job! I\'m with Dragon Forge, I suggest trying a photograph against a mid gray background. I\'ve found it to make a world of difference myself. Judging just between these two photos, I like the dark background better, partly because it suits the gritty sculpt/paint job, and partly because the mini in that picture looks sharper and more \'present\'.

I\'ll suggest a grey background as well.. both for colours and overall quality of photo. The white is for placing under the miniature so that it bounces light back onto the mini and reduces glares.

Very nice mini! Love the colours. I have only one nitpick.. maybe a slight transition between the cheek highlight and the stubble effect. I think the edging works better for me on this piece as I interpret it more as a part of the weathering. I just love how the little flowing stripe makes the mini much more dynamic.
