keep the cover

I still have the covers of all the boxed sets I ever bought. Did cut the sides off the boxes and keep the front and back in a file stored away to look at and gloat.

Is this normal behavior or the habit of an anal retentive ?

I think you will get a very different answer to that question here than you would if you\'d ask it in a less niched environment. But, maybe that\'s what you\'re hoping for, right? ;)

I\'d say it\'s a bit anal... Do I do it myself? Of course! :innocent:

I\'d imagine a lot of us are of the hoarding/collecting mindset. ;)

Used to do exactly the same (Though kept everything mint! Like it would ever be worth anything *laughs*) until I moved somewhere smaller and dumped all of them, and that was only out of necessity! Then with the ball rolling did likewise with old minis on ebay. Still have umpteen old rules books, magazines, templates and such which I\'ll never use again I know I really should get shot of.

Still, some bit satisfaction knowing you have something not sold anywhere anymore and that p[robably few people ever thought to keep. ;)

Ritual, you got it sooo riggght on the spot ... I feel like getting caught for something nasty. Yes, I hoped for \"I do that too\" answers, being with my >throw that away, its no good for anything< family every day.

Guilty as sin am I... I still have original boxes of some of my Corgi/Matchbox toy cars, with cars in them and for boxes of minis and models - a trunk-load I guess. I recently sold off my collection of Lego-boxes from late 70\'s - mid 80\'s with everything intact, box pieces and the lot, you can only guess what people can pay for it.

aren\'t we geeks so say, I know I am.

I don\'t personally keep them, but then I don\'t usually buy box sets.

However, my wife has the box to every breyer horse she bought new.
The boxes are collapsed and tucked away on a shelf, but when she decides to sell one on eBay she includes the box and it always bumps the price considerably.

I either have the mint box or the carefully scalpelled front cover, back cover and sides (if they were interesting) of every mini/toy I have ever bought.

Even sadder...many, if not most, have never even been removed from their box!

I hope that makes you feel better:D

Yup, I used to do this, and occassionally still do.

It seemed like I was saving every scrap of everything associated with my little hobby. I\'ve recently gotten a bit more callous and started throwing those things out.

Iv got all the cards out of the Rackham stuff iv painted, but boxes and blister pack back is one thing iv never hoarded.
I will sometimes keep a box whilst im painting something, just to make sure I paint everything, sometimes I can\'t see the details! Im sure my eyes are on their way out.

Same \'ere. Don\'t play Confrontation, never intended to, so why do I keep those little Rackham rules booklets? I don\'t smoke anymore, so I can\'t roll \'em.

The blisters started getting too many, so like got opened with like, and while I know damn well what the minis are, the labels have been pulled off the blister packs, and are sitting with the minis in smaller homes.

The blisters themselves are saved for future use, like mixing epoxy. The foam is useful for... not sure yet, but I\'ll find a use for it one day. Paint pots, well, you never know when you need a spare one. And if those knife blades aren\'t blunt, they\'ll cut even me if I use enough pressure. Ah, just remembered what I use the foam for; it\'s great for cushioning minis while doing conversions. I knew that stuff was useful. :)

I have all blister backings rubber-banded together. I also save the blister plastic for mixing paint, glue etc. The boxes are all on the shelf.

Hubby and I are both hoarders, but we hoard different things, so we can moderate each other. I keep all the blister pack cardboard backings, just so I can know specifically what the minis are and where they came from.

Don\'t feel bad about the Legos, my husband still has all of his, along with the original boxes and set instructions. Whenever the family is around and the kids ask to play with them, he reminds them that they are HIS legos and that they are to be VERY careful not to lose any pieces. lol

I keep all the boxes, its easier to hide when youve bought a bunch of new stuff if you can bury it in a pile of old boxes.

They are currently piled 3 feet high on the top shelf of my work bench.

Speaking of buying stuff........(shameless post bumping here.....)

lol God how I can see my self in that!

I don\'t feel bad about it, just had been hangin\' on to them for so long just collecting dust and at the time we really needed the money. I still have like 100 liters of bits left, and some complete boxes... some day there might be grandchildren. ;)
