This is my first attempt at NMM gold - and I\'m mildly pleased with the results. My only real complaint is that it seems too similar to the layered bone on the shoulder... which I may change to NMM.

Still a long way to go but I\'m pretty inspired by the mini and find myself not wanting to put it down.

Any feedback would be appreciated, of course.

Yeah, I think I nailed it on the back of the legs (which I did last) but the front...

Well, the front will get re-painted when I move on to the next section of gold :)

I redid all of the NMM gold -- I have also done the bulk of my NMM steel. I do intend to go over the chains with some rust and dirth but only when I\'m ready to weather the whole model.

The 40 mm base was made from Super Sculpey.

Still a bit of work to do including the gun, axe, finishing the backpack and general clean-up and weathering.

It was worth redoing, it looks much richer and more gold now. I personally prefer metallics on Chaos models, I just think they suit them more, because NMM tends to be too clean. Is there any way you could work some dirt and grime into the gold without messing up the NMM?

A bit of gore on the axe I take it, and some glowing plasma effect on the pistol perhaps?

The base is very cool too, although you shoulda done the Khorne symbol to really suit him, although perhaps the chaos star works better as a shape.

Yeah, I still haven\'t touched the axe as I\'m not quite sure how I\'m going to do it.

There will certainly be gore and dirt on the whole model but I\'m saving that for the last step -- that way I can do the whole thing at one time.

I did consider the Khorne symbol for the base but wanted to try my hand at carving a couple of circles :)

I\'d actually only started in on the NMM to challenge myself for a competition -- when I found out I couldn\'t enter this guy I went ahead with it anyway. I really just wanted the challenge.

With the exception of the touch-up I know that I\'ll find, and the addition of the obligatory gore, this fella is finished. I\'m pretty happy with my first NMM -- although the photo makes it more yellow in places than it really is. None too shabby.

Feedback is, as always, welcome and appreciated.

Very nice job on him. Nice reds and gold NMM. The NMM steel is a little dull, but it still looks good. My favorite thing is the base, it\'s really fantastic. How did you do it (I mean other than using Sculpey)?

Why were you unable to use this guy in the competition you mentioned?

Thanks for the feedback.

Unfortunately I did not take photos of this guy *before* I started painting and I needed to do so in order to enter him. I may whine a bit about it but don\'t disagree with the decision to exclude the model.

Method for the base:
Undercoat black
Drybrush Codex Grey - thick
Drybrush Ral Partha Light Grey*
Drybrush Skull White - just a touch
SPONGE light touches of green, blue, brown, yellow and more white

*Yup, I still have some Ral Partha paints -- they\'ve been with me for nearly 20 years and are still in fantastic condition for the most part.

Ok, sounds simple enough I\'ll give that a try later (although it may be a little too light for my project...). Did you carve the lines in after you baked the sculpey or before? I\'ve done a few rocky bases with sculpey and I\'ve found that chipping away after it\'s cured can give some really nice results.

retouch the bare arm. it seems not as highly built up as the other parts. i would give you an 8 but i think it would probably get more like a final score of 7.8. other than that a good piece.
