Khorne Lord on Juggernaut *Better Pics*

Hey everyone,

This is a khorne lord that I had originally painted ot be the general for my chaos army. Unfortunately I decided that I need to finish building and painting my orcs and goblins so I am putting him up for sale on ebay. I would rather have him be in the hands of someone who will get great use out of him than see him collect dust on my shelf. He is a nice tabletop quality and he likes people so if you are interested in purchasing him keep an eye out for the auction as it will be up soon.

Also feel free to critique as it is always appreciated.

Well I really like it. Top job and WAY better then a good tabletop standard. My only quibble is I don\'t like the green foliage on the base as it just sticks out too much and looks out of place inthe context of the rest of the fig. 8.5/10 from me!

Thanks for your comments! I know that the base is nothing special. I really have no idea how to make bases. I have watched the JBT DVD and have received some PDF tutorials from Wappellious but I just do not get it. It is like trying to teach calculus to a rock or something. Currently I am trying to convince Jarhead to make an article on CMON about how he makes his bases.

I think I may try to take better pictures.

@ sg2009: I highly recommend painting this mini! The Juggernaut has alot of nice surface area to practice blending and is alot of fun. Same with the shield. Great piece to practice on.

First off I wanna re-iterate that this model is quality, and well above my best abilities.

But the base just doesn\'t do anything for you. It doesn\'t have to be as elaborate as anything you\'ll find on th JBT video or the excellent article by wappelious.

I think that it\'s chief flaw is it\'s flat. I mean like 2-d flat. breaking the 50mm base up with some height using greenstuff or whatever would be a great place to start from my view of things. Adding some larger rocks and maybe some clumps of buffalo grass or somehting would push this model right over the score I gave it (which was a really easy to give 8.5 or 9/10).

If you really still think you don\'t want to do that then I heartily reccomend picking up some pre-made sculpted bases. I\'ve been on a huge Dragon Forge base kick and I think they\'re excellent for the price.

My thoughts, and as I say you\'ve kicked this models ass. I just think you\'re basing is letting you down a little.

for the tabletop, this guy is great...
i really like the fades in the red...
the rider is a bit orange for me, but the mount is spot on colourwise...
why did ya decide to leave the spiked skulls off the shoulders???

Thanks for the info :) I will definately check out some pre-made bases. That will definately help me out.

@ Jah: Ya I thought that making the rider a bit lighter would make him stand out and be the focal point for the mini but I agree with you that the red on the juggernaut would have been better. I left off the spikes because I did not like them. Also I thought that keeping them off would help show off some of the blended parts.

I love the colours on the mount, very clean paintstyle. I like the base too, it\'s understated and quite minimalist, which fits the clean lines you\'ve achieved on the mini. There are things that you could do to it, but I wouldn\'t be too put down by it, it\'s a great piece :)

A question for you. Or two ;) Why the holes in the shoulders? Also, does the shield come moulded to the hand, or is it seperate?

The holes in the shoulders are actually meant for the spikey bits the mini comes with. I just did not want to use them :D Also the shield is moulded to the hand.

Very nice! The rider look too orange in these photos but just right in the gallery imo.

I\'m contemplating painting this one actually. I think it\'s a superb model.

Basing is definately my kryptonite (I think that is how it is spelled). I promise that on my next mini the base will be better. I already purchased some premade bases, at the suggestion of my valued CMON friends :), so hopefully they will be my \"hail marie\". Thank you everyone for commenting on the mini once again! :)

I really like this model. The only places where i think improvement is necessary is the base, and the bone. I think the base is too plain for an amazing paint job like this one. Keep up the great work!

lol I consider myself a neurotic perfectionist. Not really a good thing but it helps me produce decent minis :)
