I start from a midtone then glaze down the shades in a couple steps usually. Then I add highlights in usually three to four steps of glazes. Always going back and forth between the basetone and the shading. Really appreciate the comments!

No problem...I have been working on layering lately, and honestly I find using glazes much easier than trying to use layers. I am still learning but my last LOTR mini I painted for a Games Workshop local shop competition I painted using glazes and washes and I think it might be my best work to date. You have come very far in the last little while, it is inspiring and gives me hope to see that lol, cause sometimes I feel like I am hitting a wall, but I need to realize I am just heading into advanced painting territory and nothing worth learning comes easily. Kudos mate.
