Kids, don\'t take drugs!

Seriously, don\'t, you might end up like poor Alyx, hyped on blue stuff, pistol in hand, storming through the hospital with a damaged teddy and dragging a dirty blanket... not a happy sight.
:drunk:

Well, here she is, my latest and finest imo, \'problem child alyx\'. It\'s been a very fun ride really; quite happy with the result especially the face which I consider quite a feat for me, given the really diminutive scale.

Thanks to Kester, Backstabbeth and ScottRadom, for steady comments and support.
It\'s the one that received the best feedback in the wip, let\'s hope it translate into scores now ;)

Cheers, C&C always very appreciated, thank you for voting

Looking good!

Only comments are that she could possibly have done with a little more contrast and a little neater blending.

But very cool!

And i wont\'t take the drugs either :D

The dark spots under the eyes are spot on though!

A well done fig my friend! Things I love....

-The face. Spot on, moody and great!
-The Blanket! Love that it ISN\'T covered in blood and pulling it over the side of the base floats my boat.
-The tiles. Share your tech with this! I am doing a similar base RIGHT now and I need to steal your method.

A well deserved 8 for me. I think it\'s extraordinary work, and I\'ll be suprised with the quality of the work and the picture, as well as fig choice that this doesn\'t land in the mid-high 7\'s.

Good Luck mon frere!

I really need to get off my arse and paint some hasslefree.. Especially considering you guys, like a billion miles away paint it and i live in the same area as sally and kev...

@Alex: Neater blending and more contrast ???
Never heard of this...
Seriously though, got any area in mind particularly?

And yeah, the hasslefree stuff is really worth trying.

@Scott: Thanks, comments like this always make me happy.
Tiles is a lot of stippling (Like drybrushing spots). Base coat is a mix of Tan and bonewhite (Vallejo) and the effect is done by stippling successively with cobra leather, terracotta, and white, around a couple times starting with more sloppy stains and finishing with more defined spots also with black at the end. A bit of gloss as the finishing touch.

Ive looked through your whole gallery and this is the sleekest thing you have done. Very cool, the eye and the face went over real well. I was concerned half way through, as i had mentioned, but you have seemed to pull it off on such a small scale. well done! The blening on the face is really good! if i were to look for a place where the blending was noticably rougher I would say the jacket. when I say noticeably, I mean barely, it looks good to me too, but the rest of the mini seems to be painted to a high standard for anyone. I really like the touch of the medicine/drug bottle spilled on the floor. the blanket looks great as well. You defininetly got the 1-up mushroom on this paint job! well done!

Basically brighter highlights (you seem to have the shadows sorted..)

And some area seem a little patchy and unrealistic. Like the hair on the face close up sort of where the parting shading comes down it carries on along the fringe, where it would normally be highlighted. Also on hair if you highlight in streaks with the streaks being brighter nearer the parting it looks better (imo). Kinda like this:

Hope that helps,

Yeah, thanks Alex that makes a lot of sense.

I struggled a bit with the jacket too, I had to redo quite a bit because of a miscalculated glaze and assembly/prepping issue, I guess it shows a bit.

Anyway, thanks for the great feedback :D

Edit: 7.3, if I\'m lucky I might finally get my 7... let\'s hope the sniperzzz are on vacation:rolleyes:

Y\'know, I really didn\'t think snipers existed as much on this site. I was pretty vocal about it recently too! That\'s when I started getting my mini\'s voted with some three\'s and fours. Ouch!

Anyway, I gave you an 8 for several reasons. First the fig looks good, it\'s a great job and for sure a step up. I liked your vampire a bunch but this is better. Cool fig and great idea with the base. If the painting were to be dissassembled and broken down it\'d probably be a 7-7.5, but the entire piece together is easy worth an 8 from me.

This piece is way better then I could do, for sure. Put a few more like this in your gallery and I think you\'ll be pretty pleased with yourself!

Well done, what\'s next!

Yeh, this is way better than the vamp. I give this an 8.

Scott, don\'t let it get to you.. if 13 year old kids havent got anything better to do i don\'t mind if they have fun voting down my stuff :D, its what people think in real life that matters. If someone came up to me at a comp or gd though, and said they thought my stuff was crap i would just punch them..

*Steps up at the mic*
\"People I assure you, you are safe; there is no such thing as snipers.\"
BANG!!!

Forward and upward, it\'s the way to go... I will not be satisfied until I got that sword ;)
But yeah, with a couple more like this I could
at least start by not being ashamed of displaying my rank.

I have two challenges coming up next, whichever is a ready first and I have an aquatic troll starring at me.

Cheers Freak and Vike.
I would be tempted to say \"Then buy it\" but it\'s out of stock in the cool mini shop lol

I really like this - the hair looks really smoothly blended and the face is lovely.
I like the transition of light on her skirt too.
I\'m also after a 7 this year, after seeing this I have a looong way to go :)
