Killa Kan WIP

Not sure about the base James, can\'t make out how the Kan\'s gonna be placed.
However the Kan itself is looking pretty good. If I might suggest roughing up the bullet holes a little as they look just a bit too pristine and still like drill holes. Killer Kans suite a rough, battered and scratched paint appearance.

looking good mate
the base will be too unstable at that height.
if you drop it to two layers instead it will still give the same feel and a lot more stability.
certain parts would be better a little brighter as it would help rust spots etc stand out. (but that\'s just my taste)
i will have to keep a check of this as it looks very promising, i don\'t normaly look at the wip thread.

ok the \'kan \'will be at the flat area at the top of the stairs.
the ig base thingy isnt the same material as the top.Its a hollow plastic circlythingy i found round the house.It is quite stable.Ive undercoated it now and ill get up some more pics up soon (rear) andbanner

Lookin at the model as far as construction goes first of all there are few bits you might want to consider.
With the soft polystyrene layer it will be difficult to get a lot of stability for the Kan when you pin it on as the plastic base is hollow.
While you still have the chance:
1)work out where the can will be when finished.
2)run pins down through the polystyrene and through the plastic base so there is about one inch sticking into the hollow area.
3)stick big blobs of green stuff to completely cover the pins and attched to the top of the hollow area.
This will help stop this finished model \"wiggling\" on the soft poly.
As far as painting goes ther are others on here better to advise you than me. But if you want the piece to appear filthy and weathered you might want to start with brighter colours before knocking them back with washes. This would help the model stop appearing too dark and monotone.
Spacemunkie is probably a good person to ask as i seem to remember a few of his pieces with excellent weathering.
Good work on the checks though i definately lack the patience to do that sort of thing, im easily distracted :drunk:
Im interested to see what your planning to use the void on the lower part of the base for. Is it going to become a mini-diorama?

the base looks pretty good. i\'d suggest getting/making a stencil for your lettering. it dosent look quite as sharp as it should be. Imo if its not real shap (and has a sprayed on from a teplate look) it loses the effect you are going for. other than that, looking good, and your making some nice improvements.:beer:

Orange is also an exellent colour to use for rust
THe rust on stone thing is plausable! If an objects been laying about rusting for any length of time you WILL get residue in the surrounding area.
I actually thought thats what it was!

Looking good but one thing, on the banner glyph you can still see the black through the yellow. if you give it a layer of white and then the yellow it would come out better.
