I am at a loss as to which colour to paint his loincloth...I kinda like the undercoat, so may just go with white? His axe head has changed quite a bit too - there's a lot of colour on iti now...
Also, I'll try and remember to resize stuff before posting. Does anyone know what pixel width and height should I aim for please?

I haven't given the loincloth a thought yet (apart from Kretcher making me wonder if it's scaly under there...) but dirty white could work well. I like your colour additions tomy, and the axe gradient looks good.

I use use tiny pic for images and when you upload there it has an option to resize for message board - I think it is 640x480. No idea if that is 'right' but it does give me a quick copy and paste link so putting pics up is easy (thankfully).

I usually just make the Picts 600 wide and let the height float depending on how I cropped the original. For the loin cloth maybe take a different shade of one of the gorgeous tints you had worked into the skin like the red or purple.

@dazzler, I like the patterning on the back. I was contemplating doing something similar with my pirate version, but with more of a Caucasian skin tone.

I finally started prepping mine yesterday. Only mold lines to deal with, until I broke the anchor...%#*^##¥...maybe get the Greenstuff out to clean up gasps and get him primed today. I thought with a week of vacation I would have had him half done by now...dang "To do list".

Ok guys... I have prepared mine, few mold lines, some green stuff for the gaps, sand paper remaining mold lines, then airbrushed Mr Surfacer 500 and base coat black + white, finally airbrush base work! Here it is:

Looks great boubi: love the deep, vibrant green, and the transitions are awesome. I might try airbrushing one of these days (if it didn't scare the bejeezus out of me).

slightly left-field now, but... Freehanding! Aargh!

i sketched out a couple of tattoo options, more or less (mostly less) to scale. I want to put a tattoo down his arm, and thought I'd try a few options out.

From left:

1. His name. I thought I might muck about with the letters so it sort of graffitis his own name down his arm. Something only a narcissist would do: but he does have quite a lot of bling hanging from his loincloth...

2 & 3. Variations on his name, with added curly bits.

4. If I get scared I could just do the 'm'...

5, 6 & 7. Mucking about with circles instead. I thought after that I might put faces in the circles...

8. Probably the best of the circle/faces ideas.

9. Back to the name, and this sort of works?

10. Ditching both ideas, I could just do a dragon instead...

11 & 12. My 7yr old wrestled the pen off me and had a go at his own designs.

So so a quick straw poll: it's probably something like 8, 9 or 10. Any favourites?

bgcdazzler, I vote for the 9th ! Remind me black metal band name!

And here some progress of tonight, quick update not much done just some details to remove the airbrush feeling, no work yet on the skin, just face, NMM and boots.

Those shadow transitions are really nice Boubi.

@dazzlet: I like 11 ;). The only ones I don't like are 1 and 4. The rest would all be effective.

Thank you guys!
I try to paint faster, I actually enjoy more while painting faster. One video from painting buddha with Fernando Ruiz was an eye opener, sketching first then cleaning and detailing, so much more active, the brush is really alive! I am doing also between areas, when I have enough to work on one area I switch to another and come back later...

Here my progress for today:

The nmm on his bling looks great, boubi. I have no idea how you paint so quickly and consistently.

A few few updates to mine: smoothing out some of the awkward bits on his muscles shading, working up the hands and arms, and painting his eye. It should be blue with a black centre, but no white highlight yet. You can also see where I've outlined the tattoo for placement - it needs thinning and going over in black, but I'm happy with the design so far.

I've also gone over the scales, but still not sure about them.

Oo - sideways!
Krule did you step on it after you dropped it? :)
Bcgd- those scales must've taken ages!
I have found that I hate doing the bandages on the axe shaft and boot. I might try and cover it mostly with some kind of weathering powder - make it look dusty or something...
I should move on to the base before putting more paint on him...
