I purchased Knight Models new Captain America from the Cool Mini or not store.
(quick service BTW!!)
Anyhow, I just wanted to express my slight (emphasize slight here) disappointment with the model itself.
Here's the new one I just got:

The original Captain America, now long sold out is here: (i also own this one)
I was excited to add a new Cap sculpt to my slowly growing collection of Knight Models. They are a premium model at a premium price. However, it seems to me that through some clever resculpting, the torso and legs from the original are basically identical. They reused it and reangled the feet to give a new pose. This caused me a moment of slight disappointment. It just seems that for the price paid, I'd deserve a completely new sculpt....But maybe I'm just picking nits here. The head is new and now I don't have to try and glue on those goofy looking wings the cap wears (they are a solid piece!)
Now, let me just say that is my ONLY disappointment. The cast is wonderful, the presentation and box and fantastic. Am I being too geeky here?
I know it's a common thing amongst companies to do that sort of thing, Hasslefree, for instance does it quite a bit. I'm not really a fan of it. If it completely changes the way the mini looks, that's one thing, but it mostly feels like I'm buying the same model again, with a conversion. Not really a big deal on a single 8 dollar mini, but when I plonk down 70 bucks for a mini....
All that said, had I known it was done this way I probably STILL would have bought it. But at least I'd have known, and not had the unpleasant surprise.
On a completely unrelated note, I also bought MONGO from the Dark Age range when I placed my order...really just on a whim, but seeing the quality of the resin cast and sculpt, have to say that more than made up for my slight I may have felt. What a terrific model that is!!
I can't wait to paint both of them! (currently scheduled for the end of 2017...lol)
