This project was really cool, I watched the video just yesterday and was blown away as how many minis was painted in such a small period.

Nice mini, fits perfectly in the army!

After watching squidmars video and seeing the speed he paints with for an army I was a bit interested how long time I really do put into painting my marines. I started painting 5 of them today and put a clock on a timer to measure the amount of time I did put into painting. I did stop it when I had to do other things like cooking...doing things with my son and so on :)

Will describe the different step I take and the time it took for me to do them.

I did start with built and primed figures in black.

I then started to airbrush white from the zenital highlight kind of, but a bit more worked done to shape volumes on the different parts on the figure. after this stage I am 25 min into the painting.

Next step was to paint in the "brown" areas using Golden high flow raw umber. I do use some water so it doesn't cover the airbrush work I did earlier totally. now 46 min painting.

Now i started out on the green and did the same as the step above (golden high flow sap green). 58 min now

Now I did a transparent black on the areas that I hadn't painted so far since they should be black. 1 hour 4 min ( I later made it more black since it didn't become dark enough on the first try)

Next step was to add highlights and shadows to all the areas. On the lighter areas i started to paint over the brown areas and highlighting up to a sand color. The green I added some white to and did higlights. the balck areas I made blacker and then highlighted with some grey and an off white. 4 hours 3 min now.

Next step was to do some blacklining, adding some purple details and orange eyes and putting some gravel on the last bases. now up 4 hours 56 min of painting.

This was the last step for the day, I do think that I have about one hour left for the base and fix some areas where I made some bigger mistakes. Reflection is that I told myself in the beginning not to rush through to much in the painting but it feels I did that anyway and I guess that if painting without a clock I would perhaps add an additional hour or two. But I think the result is very good for the 5 hours that I have put into the figures so far. They might not look the best on photos and closeups but the goal is that they should look decent on a distans.

Dang, eight in a weekend, I would be lucky to have one cleaned and primed in that amount of time! Great job on the buggies!
