Hey James,
The freehand scratches are ALRIGHT, but I can give you some constructive advice on that subject. They are painted (see last picture) in a line. Breaking up the pattern a little will create a variation and exude the authenticity that you are looking for! And some different shapes in place of the horizontal crescent moon would push the realism even more.

Looks nice, sounds logical what you\'re saying about where the scratches are, have you down loaded gimp, you can lighten up the photo, its like a free photoshop alternative. Give it a go.

I had a go at playing with the levels of you photos in gimp, but as you can probably tell, I\'m no expertlol
One thing you might wanna do is up the megapixel concentration on the camera.

That\'s fine, however in real life the scratches wouldn\'t be the same size or exact same shapes.
