Lack of sneaky peaks at Games day...

Hi there maybe it was just me (i was distracted most of the day as I was minding a big group ofyoung uns) but was the Games Day yesterday sadly lacking on work in progress and sneaky peeks from the GW studio??

I visited the studio not so long back and know therewas lots and lots of really cool stuff in development. But it just seemed that there was a big lack of future stuff...

There were all the Elda (including the cool new harlequins) and most of the Orcs..but not a right lot else that hasn\'t already been seen in WD or The GW website...

I think I saw 1 character that looked empireish ? any one else spot more or have piccies?

Forgeworld had a few good bits the Great unclean one and the death korps horsemen both pretty sweet..

other than that a little disappointing really.

I agree!!! although the new harlequins were jaw dropping it was nothing we haven\'t already seen! I am pretty sure that the WD team had a mock up copy of a future issue on their table that had some new empire stuff in- have heard rumours of clockwork cavalry but seen nowt!

I think staff were limited to a three month release window... I dont think that has been the case at previous GDs... thats why there weren\'t many empire bits there as they are just outside of that

Thats right, 3 month release window, due to it being the guys first gamesday.

I was speaking to an area manager and my local GW manager, and both where not happy, very badly done all round.

another note, the polish team had a copy of the new empire book, and i have one bit of info thanks to my manager friend:-

steam tank is back in the army book, has a stat line now:

T6 S6 W8 AS+1

still has steam points,

3in move for every steam point, if it takes it into contact with a unit counts as charging, you get d3 impact hits for every steam point used to get into combat.

no upgrades allowed for steam tank now, so no more hellbaster cannon
New swordsmen look fantastic

New Dragons coming soon < summer >

New plastic Super Heavy Tanks and titans, work in progress < getting made for the new 40k game >
Dark Angles space marines < xmas >

The Forgeworld design table had some Epic scale Thunder Hawks and the transporter did anybody manage to find out a release date for them or some pictures???

Overall I was very disappointed with GW and FW as they had both sold out of nearly all the pre-release stuff before 10:00.

I even e-mailed them when the news letter came out to reserve a Gorgon with weapon sponsons and they said they would try and put one by on the day before opening, but failed to even do that

Is it so difficult to look at ticket sales and decide on a stock level it is :cussing: obvious that pre-release stuff will go so why not bring more or am I being guilty here of using the word common sense and GW in the same sentence???

War, the ticket sales dont help with choosing stock levels when people are allowed to buy silly amounts....

they are now going on ebay for £20 and £25 each - for models that were £6/7 on the day. That really pisses me off - i\'d have liked one of those slann

I didn\'t like the Slann but I wanted two for friends that asked me to get one for them, to me that slann is just a blob with a few extra blobs added I think it would need a realy good paint job to make it look better.

The same thing happened last year with the kroot birds, but I see they made an appearance again this year.

I was told by my friendly neighbourhood GW staffer, Dec, that one guy bought 30 Eldar wraithlords!!! I mean, thats a stupid ammount! And obvious to anyone with an ounce of common sense that they could not possibly be for his own use and are being re-sold for vast ammounts of cash, to the expense and dissapointment of other gamers.

There certainly should be a sensible limit on the ammount of pre- release and limited stuff you can buy at these events- the ammount of disapointed people I spoke to its not as if they need to sell 30 to one guy to shift the stock- theres enough gamers wanting them!

The only way these wanky greedmongers will stop buying stupid ammounts is if people boycott buying bits of them at stupid prices.

Also- do you think the retail monkeys were on commision for shifting the New orc and goblin army box? every time I was near the sales stands they were constantly trying too hard to peddle it to anyone! Its not even good value for money- I did the maths and you don\'t save any money as such- you only get the ltd. edition shaman for free (and IMHO aint even the best sculpted!)

Lets just hope they take the lack sneak peeks and pre release sales fiasco on the chin, and learn from it for next year, but I won\'t be holding my breath :cussing:

A little bit of info there, but does anyone have anymore rumors on what the next set of releases are and what armies are \'in the pipeline\' to be redone?

Looks like by the time I get round to doing my dark elfs they will have been redone...

The whole stockists going in and filling up early really needs to be sorted...
Best thing they can do there is to limit the amounts people can buy.. They advertise games day as having pr release stuff and it is a big draw but when they are sold out as the doors open that really sucks...

I was lucky I used to be a store manager and a couple of the lads I used to work with managed to blag me the skarsnik and gobbla model out of the cabinet..

I think also Forgeworld needs to have a barrier in place to allow a single file queue through the big press they currently have is truly an accident waiting to happen and I watched a guy in a wheelchair almost in tears as he couldn\'t get to the table to order..I ended up shouting one ofthe customer service guys to get behind the counter and bring a form for him and get his order..There really are some wankers out there....

Dark elves will not be getting redone for maybe 2 years, all they are getting is a new command group.

Thats a rough list, been pretty much right so far with dwarfs, Orc\'s and eldar.

The list is subject to change, some armies maybe pushed back, brough forward etc, hope that helps.

They had the figures on display for the Warmaster Araby Army which they say will be released soon. However, I first had a look at these figures 3 years ago at Call to Arms and they said they were going to be released soon then as well

Yes, thats great. I\'m very surprised about the Space Marines, I know they are a major seller, but they have only recently had a major overhaul and have pretty much constantly been getting new minis. I gueass it could represent the main chapters that are steadily being done, so could be space wolfs or salmanders.
