Here is Lady Claudia Nessalith from Rackham.

I have really attempted to raise my game after seeing the quality of the minis on this site and am pleased with how she has turned out.

A lot of the techniques I tried were very new to me so any comments on where I need to improve and how to go about it would be very much appreciated.

Okay I have to say that your pictures aren\'t the best (nor the worst) around but there is a marked \"Step up\" in painting there.
To me there a few things that strike me straight away.
The Nipple rings look to much like eyes staring out at you I\'d suggest trying to tone them down slightly.
The skin tone is much better than I\'ve seen you do so well down, but the colours do tend to blend a little into the cloak, you could do with increasing the shadow around the body on the inside of the cloak to increase the definition of separate areas.
I\'d also suggest that the groin just needs to be a little more darker for emphasis.

Otherwise definitley a Step in the right direction.

not bad!

there is a little too much contrast on teh skin for my liking and i agree with dr about the use of shading.

also the highlight on teh cloak above her buttocks looks too light for my liking

the nmm is pretty good, although could do with a little more shading in places.

nice work

Thanks for the comments and encouragement.

With out a doubt I have a great need to improve my photography. In fact the highlighting you are talking about on the cloak freakinacage is actually not there but is actually a reflection of the light I used to take the picture.

Most people I have asked agreed there was not enough contrast so I will try to deepen my shadows and lighten my highlights on the next mini and of course save up some cash to get a decent photo setup. I have a good camera just no lighting.

The mini is at about 7.2 now which isn\'t bad I guess. Definitely a start towards my goal of getting an 8 before the end of the year.

Once again thanks for the comments and to those who helped in the WIP section too.

I don\'t know if you have access to Vallejo paints in Japan, but one colour I\'d recommend as a good basis for Skin Tones is Vallejo Model Colour \"Brown Sand\".
I\'ve been using it for virtually every figure with skin for the last year or so. It\'s darkens nicely with the addition of tiny amounts of Purple and lightens with Bleached Bone or Vallejo MC Ivory.

It looks a little wierd with the first coat (a kind Yellow over Black Primer) but after the third coat Bob\'s your uncle.

I\'d concur with DR and Freak about the shading of the groin area and the NMM shading as well. One thing I\'ll add to the mix is that the \"dirtiness\" of the bottom of the cloak looks a bit uniform to me. I\'d probably fix that by glazing the cloak color over it in decreasing measure so that the higher off the ground it gets, the less dirty it gets. As it is right now it looks a little sudden. As it stands right now I like the off-beat skintone you\'ve chosen and mostly the model is really well executed. I\'d vote it about a 7.75 which means I\'d give it an 8 IRL on CMON.
