Lady in Blue and Goblin with Fish

I ordered a number of minis of oriental nature for a Reaper Mini Exchange. My idea was to get two minis, one a Mikado and the other a Katisha, based on the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta. One mini, the lady wielding magic wa sleft primed but unpainted. Eventually I painted her, and wasn\'t very satisfied. I left her in that condition until I was faced with a rotten day (so no priming outside) and no other minis to paint. So I touched her up, threw on a few special effects and worked on giving her a good base.

I actually painted the gobbo with lunch before the lady in blue, but even goblins will make way for a lady. He also was sitting primed but unpainted for a while.

from what i can tell of these minis, it looks as though they were just glazed over for the base coat. What I think that could be improved upon mostly is the base coat. Take a bit more time in putting down the initial basecoat to help get a stronger color. The next thing I feel that could see some improvement is the shading. It just needs to be a bit stronger to help add definition(muscle detail, face detail,etc.) i hope this helps you out and keep on painting :beer:

The gobbo is painted with an GW orc flash, which is somewhat pale for my tastes. My shadow colors are far to dark, almost like trying to shadow white with near black instead of a very dark offwhite. I put highlights on his outfit ... I probably should have added shadow as well.
