Larger scale miniatures?

Hello all, I am new to the miniatures painting scene and I want to start with some larger models but I can not find any or I am just too stupid to find them, ha! Well I am reaching out to the community for some help. I am looking for fantasy type miniatures that are good for a first time painter and are as big if not a little bigger than a dreadnought from GW. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I'm sure there may be a few more, but you got the ones i could think of. Verlinden productions, young miniatures, and figone come to mind also.

If we knew what style of things you were after we could probably help narrow it down a bit. Historical, scifi, fantasy, anime, robots, grimdark, steampunk, collectors stuff. Some of the game system ranges have larger monster type stuff as well.

pretty much those are my recommendations what zab wrote.
with the extra info, that it's hard to get bigger 'minis' than some of the e2046 kits ( scale 1/3 :) )

My apologizes, I am really into scifi like 40k, fantasy and steampunk. My issue really is I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for a model for a game I don't play and that I doubt I would ever be able to sell. That is why I am looking for miniatures from other companies that aren't for a game system.

Hmmmn what do consider an Arm and A Leg?
Larger miniatures do cost more, Scale 75 for Fantasy, SciFi & Steam punk run around £40.
Andrea/Pegaso 'bout the same.

There are a lot of great larger scale mini companies. You've already got a good list (Nocturna and Scale75 are especially neat). Andrea Miniatures has a lot of historical, but they've got a line of 54mm fantasy figures (Warlord Sage) and 54mm sci-fi (Dark Nova). As they're larger high quality figures they tend to be expensive. If you're looking for something cheaper I recommend looking at the 54mm figures from Reaper
http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/54mm
Moetle mentioned Verlinden, they aren't great sculpts but they're big and cheap so nice for practice
https://www.verlindenonline.com/150mm-fantasy-series.html

And the CMON shop has a section for 54mm+ figures
https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/54mm-plus-category

Also, you can try large 28mm scale figures. For example, the Ogre Kingdom figures from Warhammer fantasy might fit your needs.

You can find bigger kits on ebay but they will likely be recasts and not worth the money you will be paying for the quality you will get. I've gotten a few by mistake and cursed profusely. Avoid them, as the aggravation really sucks the fun out of the process. Saving money means nothing if you don't even want to paint what you have bought.

in the "Retirement" occupation plan......
the what??? :D :D :D

I calculated the minis I have and the time it's take to paint them at my usual pace. Turns out that IF I don't buy any more, I have things to paint for the next 50 years or so. Sadly the average human lifespan is less than my current age + 50, so no way I'll ever get everything painted. --> no such plan for me. :(

as for scale75... I have Sarah Kilmister + Carly planned for this year. No idea if I manage to even start painting them.

If you're just starting out and don't want to spend a lot of money it might be worth looking at the Reaper Miniatures Bones range. Although they are not technically a larger scale they do have a few giants in the range that might fit the bill and they are dirt cheap. but the quality of these figures will in no way compare to those from the other company's that have been suggested.

I turn 60 next January and all being well intend to take an early retirement in the April. (Provided my current levels of Stress and Depression remain manageable.)

Dont forget to consider that by the year 2050, the life expectancy is going to be well over 100. So keep this in mind when purchasing minis...

Just so you know, as you mentioned them earlier in the thread, e2046 are also recasters.

Really?
Can you provide an example please as I've bought a couple of pieces from them?

Goggle e2046 and recastors you'll see plenty of examples. Especially off anime garage kit boards, where it is considered a good thing to have bought from recasters and they are openly called what they are in those forums. You'll see that e2046 does a LOT of anime recasting, garage kit recasting and prepainted statue recasting.

Also, on e2046's own forums ...they actively ask their customers to send in new kits for them to recast.

They are pretty much one of the biggest recasters in the world, so it's impossible to list everything they recast. They are very well known in the garage kit communities as well as the above mentioned communities.

Just as one example, PK Kings stuff is very popular for them to recast, so much so he had to put up a plea on his website for people to not buy the recast figures. So he could, you know, actually make money from his own sculpts.

anything that's not ORI or prepainted plastic / nendoroid. :)

but the quality is top and as there is no other way to get most of the kits I find them quite ok.
