hiya.

it\'s been a while now since I\'ve done a proper WIP.

this Farseer is a sort of \"side project\" of a Golden Demon project I\'m working on...

anyway... here it is :)

your red looks as though its hitting black, which means dark, but the one thing it lacks is the brightness

for example, look at the contrast in your white, it goes from dark grye to bright white, your red however seems to go from dark red to slightly brighter red

so one thing to do is speed up your blending, which just means highligth a bit faster, so for example the raised parts of the folds will go from medium red(near the top of the crease) to a much brighter red near the bottom as it fans out...this is because light hits the fanned out part more because of the angle

blending looks pretty good, the white could be a bit smoother(more glazes) but other than that looks good!

hehehe :)

I realized that, so I have brightened it up a bit :) maby I will do some more highlights on the red...

I have also done some freehand (wich I thought was rarely complex)

and at the fang in Stockholm there was a farseer that had tiny tiny signs on the end of the robe (like the \'Eavy metal one... you don\'t realize how small they are untill you see it IRL).
so I have tried to do some small signs just like they do in \'Eavy metal.
I think it actually turns out quite nice....
anyway... my camera ran out of batteries, so I will buy some tomorrow. maby I will post some pics then :)

The runes on the hem of the cloak seem nice, but the larger white symbol seems a bit rough - I take it that it is not finished?

Also, you need more definition the lines and runes on the white sash, as the black\'s transparency lets some of the white behind it through, giving the appearance that it is slightly grey.

Looks nice so far, look forward to more work on it. :)

Cheers,
Tom

thx for the comments :)

I have an update now :)

I must say though... I\'m not very pleased with the freehand on the sash, I repainted the whole thing and the freedhand is quite masse. but I intend to fix the soon :)

Looking really nice, Larre I must say. I especially like the blue pattern on the inside of the cloak. :) I can see what you mean about the sash, it does need fixing. Keep going with it!

Cheers,
Tom

It is starting to look nice man, you are pretty good at freehand;)

It already looks good but I think it will look alot better when it gets a proper focal point like the helmet because right now the lightest part is the runes on his robes.

And the farseer at the fang was done by Martin Petterson, and the sick part is that it is apart of his army:no:

Keep painting, cheers

he has a whole army?!
tho I doubt that all of them are painted to that standard.

it really is a bummer that he doesn\'t have any pics here on CMON. I bet he would get to topweek.

Looks fine Larre, What colors are you planning. Going to keep him dark or bright seems like you have both options open right now

The freehand on the sash doesn\'t look as clean and refined as on the other robe, but it\'s not bad. The one thing I think could do with some attention right now is the larger white symbols on the robe. There is a lot of red mixed in with the white it seems, which is giving it a very pink look in places.

Another thing I\'m curious about, when you paint do you tend to hold onto the model itself? I ask because your undercoat always seems to get scuffed and scraped. If so, you should really fix your minis to something else that you can hold onto while you paint (an old paint pot does the job fine). This will make it easier for you to hold onto it, reduce potential hand cramps and also stop you doing damage to bits you have already painted.

Indeed! Blue tack and basically anything that\'s comfortable holding will do the trick.

I dont think that the whole army is done yet but I am sure that all of it will be in that standard...

thx for the comments guys :)

personally I think that the pink areas looks pink in the pics. but I will see if it need fixing.
the small symbols on the sash is fixed and I have donr the breast plate and the wraith bone. the wraith bone isn\'t quite finnished yet though :/

but I will fix the final touch up on the wraithbone tonight.

about bright and dark... I haven\'t really thought about that. when I paint red I have something in my head that makes the red quite dark. even if intend to make it bright it gets dark... anyway, we\'ll see how is goes with this one. this is a great model for practising freehand :D
