I would be tempted to take the highlights up another level or two, especially on hs bonce, bald people tend to be a bit shiny on top! (Just ask the coffin dodgers! :p )

maby so, the thing is that I\'m a bit afraid to paint any more on the face... a bit afraid to ruin it... because irl it looks good. but some few highlight might be an option ;P

I\'m taking this mini to GW in stockholm at saturday so I can paint some there... II will go there so that I can get some advice on painting... that is one part of my preparations for GD youngbloods -07 :p

anyway, I\'m glad you like it! :D

Just make sure you ask loud as their hearing\'s not what it used to be lol

As for the mini, I think it\'s looking pretty strong. It\'s always difficult to judge highlight levels through photos as they look different in real life. I\'d say leave as is and start work on the rest of it, you can always come back to it later if you feel it needs that extra level.

What kind of primer do you use, and how do you use it? Imho, you seem to neglect that part of the paintjob or do something not quite right. I noticed this in your earlier WIPs aswell, and unfortunatly, all that chipped of primerpaint leads to paint building up some edges here and there on your minis. And with all the time, effort and energy you\'re putting down in your minis, it\'s kind of a shame to have such disturbing distractions put down the overall apperance a notch. Other than that, i think you\'re on to a good start this time around aswell.

I use chaos balck that I paint on the mini instead of spraying. (the reason for that is that I can\'t afford a spray)

the thing is that I try to clean up a bit before posting on CMoN. anyway, have you got a tip on how to get a smooth primer that lasts untill the mini is fully paionted? on plastic minis it\'s no problem, but on metal miniatures it\'s quite exhausting :(

I would highly apreciate some help :)

I agree completly about the primer. I think that this is simply black paint brushed over the mini and possibly you hold the mini not by the base but by its coat ?? Am I right ?

wow you where faster than me <LOL> A tip from me in that case. Mayby try to do an aditional layer of black but this time a bit thinner and make sure you hold the mini by it base !

i would suggest that you should try to save up for that can of sprayprimer. I know, it\'s probobly not the most sexy thing in the store, but i assure you it will be worth it. Saves time and does a hell of a better job most of the time (done wrong it can really turn a mess of your mini tough...)

Other option would be to buy a paint on primer. Unfortunatly, gw doesn\'t sell them anymore, but other brands still got them, like vallejo. Unsure if you can get black paint on primer... I prime with spray and touch up with paint on primer. Primers and regular paint has diffrent qualitys, and primers basicly makes your subsequent coats of paint stick to the mini without chipping or peeling of as easily.

okey, I haven\'t got the money though :( I spent some money in stockholm on a missionary and some green stuff... so I won\'t buy a spray paint for a while... but I have been thinking about what you said, and I came up with the solution of placing the model on an empty paint bottle, and that way I won\'t actually touch the model as much, but I have the battle brother to finnish first.

I will have a new update this afternoon, so keep your eyes open ;)

Remember there are cheaper alternatives to GW stuff! But using paint isn\'t always so bad, I know people that use Gesso etc...

Wow, looking amazing mate, but you really need a PRIMER, like GW\'s Smelly Primer if you can\'t afford spray cans. Can\'t really complain on anything of your painting :)

Right, I will start off by saying this is looking really great so far! The head looks really good, the highlights are spot on - DO NOT go any further. Well done there, you have given the face a lot of character.

The red on the inside of the cloak is spot on also - maybe smooth some of the transition of the highlights, I can see a bit where you have feathered it on. The glazes on the inside of the cloak really enrich it - is there a glaze of purple in there?
Good job on the scopes too, they look really good aswell. As with your brettonian the golds are superb and I think they are a step up on this one. The checkers on the knee pad are a good idea, I assume they aren\'t finished at the moment?
Black highlighting on the armour is also well done, not at all over the top.

Anyway, keep on working and keep the same dedication you have showed at the moment!

Cheers,
Tom

This is starting to look really cool!

One critisism is the fact that you glued on the backpack after undercoating!

Another thing, what are you planning on doing to the base, if you put on sand/gravel/ flock after undercoating you could get some paint (when undercoating the gravel) on to model?! You really don\'t want this to happen!!

:)

hope this helps! lol

Quiksilver: I promise you that I will be really carefull with it if I use gravel. anyone have any suggestions of a base??

I\'m thrilled that I got so good oppinions :D

if I work really hard I might have another update tomorrow ;)
