here is the thing... I actually thought about making some kind of purple bubbles instead of scales... but when I heard the idea of scales I went up and painted the shoulderpad black... so oon there will be scales.

I was thinking nmm on the shoulderpad. any advices??

actually... I am not very pleased abot the eyes or the gemstones... it was much beter before I pu a warnish on it... so I will repaint them aswell...

and the next time I post something on here I will probably have drilled some, and removed all the scratches. and of coarse painted the scales.I also plann to paint some more on the bolter pistols nmm... so it will probably be more awsome then

in overall oppinion by myself I\'m quite pleased about the result.

okay... now I am posting some new pics of what I have done with the scales..

I hpe you like it... as you can see, it didn\'t go too well, I will fix it with some putty later and I the eldar head on the base is far from done, I\'m not pleased with it... so I will repaint it later

Those scales look really good now, i would definately keep those.

I take it you haven\'t fully finished all the nmm areas - the left shoulder pad, belt buckle (you know what i mean ) look dull compared to the eagle on his chest?

I would just leave the barrells flat now and make sure you paint the holes extremely well - it can let the piece down if you don\'t do it or they are a bit wonky.

I really like the purple eyes! Very sinister looking... btw it would be helpful to tell us which parts are finished, I am not sure which parts are... if it isn\'t still WIP, I would say the skull looks a little to grey atm... you have got to be careful you don\'t \'underplay\' the piece otherwise it won\'t stand out.

Also the band on his leg looks excellent!

Great job so far Larre! The gold really pops out to me. :beer: Well done!

ok, basicly it is just the wings on the chest, black armor, I might work some more on the scales... the cloth between his legs and the purity seals that is finnished.. so you think the skull needs to be whiter... it\'s next on the list

WOW apart from lightening the scroll and doing some writing on it it a great looking mini. Well done

The skull does look a bit dull IMO but make sure you don\'t go overboard with the highlighting - after all the model is dark and dingy.

Just had a thought - what would be a cool touch would be to drybrush some grey on the bottom of his legs and purity seals on his legs - like the ash has blown on them? I tried it on the submerged exhaust and railing on my GD entry and I think the effect is great! Take a look at it - it\'s quite subtle in the pic but it\'s a bit bolder in real life. Try it on something else first if you\'re not sure you will like it.

OK then, the finished bits look great then! Looking forward to more progress on this bad boy.

That sure is a fun mini to paint isn\'t!!!
You really need to thin your paints more. I can just see them caked on there man. You see how they look kind of plasticky? Thats because of the thickness of the paint. You can fix it!

axtually I can\'t fix it. I have repainted it so many times that the paint looks thick, it really is thinned down paint in many layers. I always thin my paints

First of all, i think this piece is comming along very nicely! I really like the skull and the purple eyes, very sinister and moody. I also think that those scales turned out great aswell. However, i do think that you should paint the paper part of the purity seals in another colour. They don\'t work painted as they are right now, with virtualy no diffrence between them and the nmm-gold...

I think you need better photos, you\'ve went from blurry and white to not blurry and yellow lol

Really nice mini! As others have said you should see if you can get a hold of photoshop. I think it would do more justice to your work. Some really basic adjustments done to your last pic produced this:

Ideally, the picture should be taken directly against a gradient background, but it can be added digitally like the image demonstrates.
