Hey y'all, Im a pretty new miniature painter from Delaware. I began painting minis as a way to deal with my anxiety and got absolutely hooked on the little guys. I have only been in the hobby for about six months so I still have a lot to learn and thought it would be a good idea to keep a log on here to chart my progress. Here are some of the older figures I have painted so we have a baseline.

Aww, thanks so much! And they are so relaxing to create, even if you don't war-game you still end up with a cool little figure

I did the twilit runes but I kinda regret it, I couldn't find the color I wanted anywhere so I just used Nihilakh Oxide over white, which wasn't a great idea now the runes look too sloppy and splotchy. If I ever find the greenish-cyan that I want I'll have to repaint the markings.

At least his fish buddy is coming along well.

Hey there. Welcome to this wonderfully addictive hobby! I also find painting to be a great way to decompress when stressed or in a bad head space.

The runes don't look too bad - slightly splotchy, but thinning your paints down and some practice with brush control may help with that. I should point out that I am also rather a newbie, so consider my advice with that in mind.

Hope his fishy friend turns out well.

Welcome to the hobby. Those runes look better than mist of the freehand I attempt. I like the progress on the Tiilk and also the skeletons you finished.

I just got a Guardian Lion from a sale at my local shop!!!
Ive done some mock ups, I like the last one but I have never done a 'glowy' paint effect quite like that, does anyone know a good tutorial for a molten glow thing? Otherwise I might just stick to the Soundwave scheme.

Hello!

Thanks for your advice, I actually was able to fix the runes! A friend sent me the recipe for the color I needed so they look far better now! Ill be putting the finished fish bros up in the next day or so!

I like the Soundwave and Heat schemes the best. Heat is a little dark in the mock ups, so you would want to get the highlights brighter. You should be able to search the forum for lava and get plenty of hits for painting magma.
