Greetings!

I am hoping for some suggestions on how to bring up the highlights on the red. My test figures (which were too horrible to mention) ended up looking pink.

Any other comments or suggests are also appreciated.

Thanks!

Use a red-orange color or add orange to your base rather than white. Red will always end up looking pink when enough white is added.

You can also mix dark blues/greens with your base red to shade. I usually shade with blue and highlight by adding orange when I\'m painting red.

Flesh colours that have both a little white and orange in them ususally works well as well. If it comes out the wrong colour you can always reglaze the area with red again.

grrrr..... the photo gods never seems to smile on me

Not sure if you can tell, but highlights have been added to the reds. I still need to add highlights to the wings.

Any suggestions on the painting (or photography for that matter) are appreciated.

I have to say that background was very distracting. Also this pic is a little washed out. I like the work here, so I wanted to give it a more objective view. Here is a literal two minute touch up (so pardon any areas not picked up in the background):

Added the darker background, and tweaked the color saturation just a touch. I am not the PS genius some of our denizens are, but now I can look at this with a more objective eye.

So:
I think the flesh could use a very thin wash or two of color to add some tone to it. Also the flesh contrast could be a tiny bit more extreme.
Hotspot highlights on his hair.

Those are really the only things I see, that I would tweak. Its a really good piece with great color choice.

Ever have the feeling that a figure will never be finished?

I have taken the previous suggestions to heart and hopefully an improvement is seen.

I\'m working on the sword now and would like some suggestions. I don\'t frequently do figures with swords and have never worked with metallics.

Comments or suggestions on any other part are also welcome
