I wanted to do a WIP where I start from the very beginning with everybody\'s help. So the first thing we need to do is to choose the mini I\'m going to buy. Here are the requirements:
-has to be from gw
-no chainmail
-max cost of 12 pounds in the uk
-HAS to look cool
-not mounted

I\'m going to buy the mini next weekend and I would really appreciate it if loads of people could take part and help me with this mini. It\'s probably going to be my UKGD entry next year and my skills aren\'t nearly good enough yet so any advice would go a long way. Just to say a bit about my painting style as I\'ve only got one mini in my gallery and I painted that ages ago:
-I paint using nmm (not very well but better than my normal metallics and I think that my gnmm is better than my normal nmm). My recipe is: snakebite leather highlighted with bleached bone and shadowed with calthan brown. A final highlight of bleached followed by a few glazes of sunburst yellow in the mid tones (I got this recipe by asking razza, nmm, mattsterbenz, alexi z and automaton and mixing all of theirs together)
-I try to use glazes as described in automaton\'s article to highlight.
-I really can\'t paint skin (really, no matter how hard I try it always seem to come out under tabletop quality )

Yeah I was thinking of that mini as well and I\'v certainly got the best mini for inspiration, at the moment known under the name of your little sunday project, but the only problem is that it is not yet out as a single mini

Edit: i\'ve just checked on the gw site and it seems to be out so is it or not?

By the way does anyone go to GW at Brent X.

and the new chaos guy on juggernaut is sweet my next gd entry. i know its mounted but that mini is just freakin awesome !!!! or like matt said sigvald.

i always found warrior preists a pleasure to paint, or how about a lotr mini ??

@sg2009: I don\'t want chainmail because I just can\'t seem to be able to do nmm on it and as I\'m going to enter the youngbloods category my mini can\'t be mounted.

well how about lucius the eternal hes a brill mini to paint a mini tht i entered into yb 2 years ago when i was old enough

yb should be 16 nd under

do you think if i wrote a letter about it do you think they would take any notice of it ???

Oh, that\'s a cool one (I\'ve just had a look at yours). It\'s given me a real dilemma now, and we\'ve still only got two different minis. I really don\'t know which one looks better. Has anyone painted them both so they could tell me which one is easier to paint?

btw I personally think that 16 is a bit too experienced to be able to enter the youngbloods as most good 16 year olds have already won something by the time they were 14 and if you put them in the same category as the ones under 14 it wouldn\'t be fair. But I understand where you are coming from entering a GD with loads of adults whilst you still have homework isn\'t fair either so I think there should be a mid category.

Yeah, an in-between category would be nice. But then I couldn\'t go to GD at all this year because I had so much coursework to do over the weekend

so did i luckily i did some on the coach there and back lol

if your entering gd dont do a mini which you find easy to paint pick a mini that you would like to paint and that will test your skills to the max

you should come down, one of the store guys, kornel, is a six times finalist, and you can learn alot from him, and there is a really nice atmosphere.

@Nick: Only for that and to buy the mini I\'ll try to go to plaza instead of Brent X.

@Bigdennis: Skulltaker and Vlad are fine and they are in the race for sure but Korhil has chainmail and I\'ve already painted him for my army once and I hate redoing a mini

@Sg: By easy to paint I meant a pleasure to paint, a nice sculpt, no hard to reach areas

Any other suggestions would also be very appreciated.

you can also order the sterngaurd, and vangaurd, marines, as single minis now, so maybe one of them?

Well, I did nearly finish another one. It\'s really big, and I\'ve been painting it for nearly two years I\'ll have lots more time to paint at the end of year 11 when we have 14 weeks of parties, underage drinking and painting - that\'s something to look forward to! Right now I need to revise for my maths, I have the real exams on the 6th and 12th of November :|~

JE: Another vote for warrior priest. Paint the fat one, he\'s much cooler than the others. Or a lizardman. Make a skink standard bearer, or paint a chameleon skink.

In the end, it will be up to YOU. What any other forum-goers say probably wont convince you of a your final verdict. It\'s your entry, you know that better than anyone.
