I was looking thru the latest white dwarf at the mew LotR minis, when i noticed that on pages 32 to 35, four ot of the five models happen to be waving something! Ive noticed this appears to be a trend with most GW minis....

\"Ok, what pose shall we have for the Bandobras took model\"

\"errr... Holding a stick in the air!\"

\"ooook.. and farmer maggot\"

\"hmm... how about... yeah i think waving a scythe in the air\"....

\"right.. and lobelia...\"

\"oo, toughie.... how about... no.. no i think... yeah, waving an umberella in the air!\"

\"need i ask you about Paladin Took?\"

\"whats he holding?\"

\"a top hat\"

\"how about.. waving it in the air?\"

\"but weve done that\"

\"ok... waving it in the air, but with his other hand..\"

For once, I want a chilled out looking hobbit! with a pipe! Please!!!!!

...no, let\'s continue this trend!

.... picture large antagonist figures in the Scouring of the Shire scenario waving a hobbit in one hand... or both....:D

Ooo! Oooh! And lets have all the main characters on ponies looking to the side... But not the same side... we HAVE to make it so they don\'t all line up or look like they\'re doing something! :p

PS: While rummaing round the GW site (which I haven\'t done in a long time for obvious reasons) I came upon this:

Is that a FEMALE?!?! Save us, Jebus!!

Aren\'t those hobbit minis for the \"scouring of the shire\"? They\'re not relaxing, they\'re engaged in armed insurrection against an occupying force. Hence waving scythes, sticks and umbrellas (rudimentary weapons) or a top hat (\"moral support\" aka not wanting to fight).

...i distinctly remember waving my m-16 above my head as little as possible while in the us army infantry... of course it was in a new jersey national guard unit... that probably explains my waving block...:D

The New Jersey National Guard are probably better trained than a bunch of hobbits (also M-16\'s are not light and fluffy, as I remember all too well).

All of a sudden you\'re anti-Female now?
Or is it surprise that GW would actually sculpt a female figure for the mainstream games?

...in comparison, based upon memories of my time in the guard vs. a rereading of the scouring of the shire in ROTK, the hobbits seem to score pretty well in effectivity and esprit de corps...it\'d pit them against my old unit anyday...:D

... in beer guzzling we had them hands down, though.... breakfastwise they probably had the edge on us....twice each morning!:D

Hopefully this is the beginning of the end for those foul LOTR miniatures sullying White Dwarf. :]

You don\'t like the LOTR range from GW?
I actually think that they\'re amazing, especially the hobbits. For their size the amount of detail is great.

Nope, not anti-female in any sense of the imagination, just compare the face with the other HE mage:

Is almost the exact one! I also find no feminitiy in the expression whatsoever.

Brother and sister? Or two brothers. That figure could be perfect as a drag queen in miniature. Any special rules for that in Warhammer? ;)

Here we go:

Drag Queen 25pt Enchantment

Can only be used on a female character/troop. That model gains +1 S and -1 I. In addition, all male troops atempting to charge the figure must take a Ld test like they were charging a Fear inducing model. If they pass, they fight normally. If they fail, however, they cannot charge this turn, as they are all question they\'re sexuality. This only works for the first charge declared against the model...

Oh, I am just taking over this thread on so many weird level... Okay, back to Hobbitses! :p

It\'s not that I have a problem with the miniatures themselves. I have a problem with them jamming this game into White Dwarf taking up a full 1/3rd of a magazine that used to be about games that I actually played. I\'ve rarely come across anyone over the age of 15 that plays the actual LOTR game...it needs it\'s own Specialist magazine or they need to kill it off. It doesn\'t belong in White Dwarf, low LOTR sales caused GW to lose substantial sums of money last quarter (maybe even all of 2004), and I\'m generally just an old curmudgeon who remembers the good ol\' days of the mid-1990s. lol

As far as painting them, I\'ve never even looked at the minis (I\'m one of those weird people who haven\'t seen any of the movies, either). But I want them out of White Dwarf, and yesterday.
