I believe I've made this point to you before - CMON is partly self-moderated and I was merely pointing out something that's been pointed out (by any number of members) before; if you want some perspective, do a search for prior threads that mention padding etc.

I get that to a degree this forum is self-moderated, and that argument wouldn't bother me if there was any consistency. If you're really worried about padding, which I'm thinking you're only half serious about, then why aren't you over at the Freakbar? I'm not worried about post-padding as it's a meaningless metric, but if you are and wish to combat it I hope you continue to do so consistently. Or not at all. Why do you care if people are padding? It just sounds like a weak argument. Then again in your defense it isn't your job to self-moderate the whole site according to your standards. Still, if you'd like to make a larger impact against padding I'd suggest targeting worse offenders. The Freakbar thread is perfect for it.

For redundancy purposes let me also point out that I did actually go for an answer to DannyBoy2k's opening post and I think I'm the only person that did so.

That you did. What's your quote?

If you think my small comment to Master of fact has a condescending attitude it would seem that you don't really have much of a frame of reference. But that can't be right given there's condescension oozing from your own post.

I was going for exasperation, but condescension works well enough. Sometimes I read your posts and think you have great points. I consider you a valuable member of the community. Other times I feel the need to point out you sound like an ass (to me at least, maybe I'm alone). And I have no problem being an ass to point that out. I'm quite comfortable with it. Perhaps if I saw your body language or heard a tone of voice I would think otherwise, but currently it's the impression I get from you. I doubt my opinion means squat to you, but there's always a possibility.

What the...? Dude, that says more about you than it does about me.

It shows how I perceive your posts. I can't tell whether you're bitter, moody, bipolar, jovial, upbeat, downtrodden, or any other state of being with certainty. However, you give me the impression that you are troubled by something. Perhaps poor grammar puts you in a fit? But you're right, it does state how I perceive your posts. You might not care, but it felt better for me to express it. Really, I do feel better about expressing it. It's liberating to not bite my tongue all the time. And that would be a perfectly valid argument for you as well. Feel free to use it.

If you don't like it there was similarly nothing forcing you to comment either... so this, and your above post, are not without irony.

Is it irony for the foolish to point out the foolish? Maybe. But if you admit that I commited an offense, you admit to your own. They are, after all, the same offense.

I do enjoy threads where I have to sift through memories, and I like tripping up the ones who hold their noses high. I enjoy the thread, and by your admission it appears you don't. I enjoy even these multi-quote spats. That says quite a bit about me, but I feel no shame for it. And in fairness I do try to learn when it happens to me. I am too quick in judging your mood it seems, but I don't feel abashed because of it. And really, can't you chuckle at yourself for the following?

"Some people might actually (not wrong, but wasted space for an empty word) welcome the occasional friendly tip about this kind of thing, since good grammar or (you meant "and", right? It would make more sense) punctuation is so important to clear communication."

I'm no bastion for the proper use of English, and feel free to lambast me as much as you like, but you have to admit you're guilty of offending the language on occasion. Given, it's not as obvious. I mangle English on more occasions by my count. Einion

I wonder if it's strange that I enjoy these?

EDIT: Oh, and if you post and I don't get respond in a timely fashion it is because I have to travel to Georgia. My uncle has just been admitted for a stroke.

Just popping in here.

Moderator note:
@Einion and IdofEntity: I think you two should walk orderly out of this discussion or what to call it, whatever flaws you might find each others character are not likely to change through a forum post. The likely route this discussion is on is towards a flame war. And we don't want that.

@Rest: Stop the silly cheering and jeering.

*sigh* Some people don't know when to leave it alone... well, we've all been guilty of that at some point.

Other times I feel the need to point out you sound like an ass (to me at least, maybe I'm alone).
I see irony is lost on you.

And really, can't you chuckle at yourself for the following?
Politeness forbids me from saying what I'm chuckling at here.

Some people might actually (not wrong, but wasted space for an empty word) [this is merely a style thing, not worth addressing] welcome the occasional friendly tip about this kind of thing, [?] since good grammar or (you meant "and", right? It would make more sense) [no, I meant to say OR because I was talking about either, not both, which could be implied by AND] punctuation is [here's the one you missed - IS should be ARE] so important to clear communication.

I'm no bastion for the proper use of English, and feel free to lambast me as much as you like, but you have to admit you're guilty of offending the language on occasion.
LOL, lambaste.

Everyone makes the occasional spelling error or typo, it's when I spot one of the common confusions (e.g. they're/there/their, your/you're) and egregious apostrophe mistakes that I sometimes feel like commenting. It'll happen again; if you have a problem with that, it's your problem.
