levels in GIMP

when i do my pictures through gimp and i adjust the levels (i do them on auto) sometimes it corrects fine but other times the adjustment is wrong, mainly giving it a purple, pink tone, sometimes quite severe. the pictures are all taken together and from the same range but it seems random as to wether the auto adjust works.
can anyone shed some light on what i may be doing wrong?

You\'re not doing anything wrong. Just do them manually! You can\'t expect an auto setting to get it right all the time.

was just wondering if it was gimp or me! i try doing manually but never get the colours right! more practice i think!

What\'s happening to your colours? I\'ve only used Gimp a few times so don\'t know it that well. Check that you\'re adjusting the levels globally as opposed to individual colour channels.
