Well I have been painting this guy on and off for a short while. Heres a WIP of the monster without his shell, so mind his deformed head. Although I like the green tentacles I have run into a problem; do I shade from grey up to white for the top? or should I just make the cut and gashed areas that way?

Really open to any suggestions as to what other \'rotting\' colors I could incorperate on to him. IE wth do I do with his scales?

nice

Did you sculpt that or buy it? If you bought it, which company makes it?

I think the photos of octopus/squid would be ideal.

You could also use a darker colour underneath, and do spots/lines as you wish. Even like, dark blue, bright red, and a dark green, all intermixed in random pattern. THen with thin layers of flesh/pink, and other rotting colours, on top, you\'d still see the faint lines from the pattern below. Then on top of all that, you add the freehand spots, etc.

Could give an impression of the skin being translucent. *shrug*

not sure :)
