Get this! We\'ve got an arrangement here that sees us get a lieu day for working a Bank Holiday (as discussed before). It\'s normal across most businesses, and we\'re no different. However, having checked up on the HR policies on the intranet, we also identified that being on-call on a BH accrues a lieu day too. Putting two and two together, I told my boss that I was due two lieu days for Good Friday, working as i did and being on call. HR then said that wasn\'t going to happen, as being in work superceded on-call for lieu time and only one day could be granted. I have since put this to the Union who appear to be having a field day with it. According to company policy, if someone works only 4hrs on a BH, they get a whole lieu day. I was in work 8.5hrs and on-call the WHOLE 24hrs of that entire day and yet they think i should be getting jsut one lieu day like a 4hr worker.
As you\'d expect, they\'re \'looking into it\' at the mo, but the policy is clear. I\'m hoping for a positive result.
Oh, what joy!
I\'m not a serial Union-user by the way - I just know when I\'m being diddled by a company. Going against their own policy is shocking
