I know that this has been asked many times before but even after searching through the old posts i cant find what im looking for.

To help with my photography i need some lights and some daylight bulbs to go with them. So far ive found lamps from places like argos and a few daylight bulbs over the net however being a complete novice with regards to lighting i dont know what will fit what. If anyone has any ideas on where i could find a inexpensive light/daylight bulb conbo id be very pleased indeed. Cheers guys

True camera color corrected bulbs last in the 10\'s of hours, not 1000\'s like most bulbs. Very expensive, very hot and not real practical for our use.

Halogen is very close to natrual daylight. Desk lamps or swing arms lampw with Halogen (or Halogen A) bulbs will last a long time. Wattage need vary depending on your setup (camera, light tent, distances, etc.) These also tend to be hot to use (as in burn your fingers not as in color correction).

Color corrected flouresents are another option. OTT light in the states and Daylite are a couple of options. You can stand to now paint under the same lights you will use to photograph the mini. This option tends to be pricey. (OTT is rather proud of their bulbs).

Final optioin are the blue tinted Reveal(r) incandesent bulbs. They are your basic bulb with a blue tint to help clean up the yellow cast that normal incandesent bulb cause.

***

Last note, if you are painting for a contest where you take the mini there instead of a photo contest, they will probably have cheap flourescent office/retail lighting to judge your work by.

Stereotypes of California aside, we do get our fair share of weather here too. I\'ve learned to have my equipment ready and an eye on the window. When I see a good patch show up, hustle out and quickly snap a few good shots.

Prime a few minis when the humidity is low enough that spray paint won\'t go wonky.

That\'s pretty funny... my photography tends to happen late at night when I can turn off all the lights except the GE Reveal bulbs I\'m using to light the subject. Then again, my photos aren\'t always so good... :(

I\'m lucky in that one. Yes, we really do get \'that dry kinda heat\' here for the most part. When we get to whining about humidity here, you would probably laugh. Don\'t know the percentage numbers but I have been in REAL humidity in the midwest and man, that stuff could drive a man to drink!!

I have the lamp shown here. It was pretty expensive about AUD$120 but it has been extremely useful for me as most of my available painting time is at night.

Prior to getting the lamp I was using a regular desk lamp. I noticed an absolute huge difference when I started using the new lamp. I don\'t know how I was even able to see what I was doing before!

I haven\'t used the magnifier that came with it yet. The magnifier arm is very easily put on and off. I\'ve left it off for now but the option is always there if I need it.
