Like a kid in a candy store

Well, my guy took me to the local hobby shop. We have a Games Workshop store that's closer but there's no way I'm paying full retail for GW if I can avoid it; and I wanted to check out some of the "newer" stuff from other manufacturers... they're not really new anymore since I've been in a hidey hole for years!

And I felt like a kid in a candy store! They had a fine selection of Reaper (and old favorite of mine!), plus Dark Age stuff, and even Crocodile Games-I love the Basti.

The guy there told me about how Rackham is getting out of the unpainted metal bit so I dug through their remaining boxes. The employee that helped me was great, showing me a catalog and going to the back to dig through blisters they had left so I decided to blow my self-imposed budget on hideously fussy and detailed Rackham figures.

As I'm going to be mixing colors from a limited 7-color palette, I'm a little leery of buying something new (ie. something I mostly care about how it's going to end up looking) that is showing a lot of skin, unless it's green skin or something.

Anyway if anyone is actually reading and is curious, I picked up Irix the Sibyl, Ainoa, Managarm the Traitoress and Unicorn and Emissary of Light. The Emissary violated my 'no vast areas of human fleshtones' but the leonine-faced unicorn was too much to resist. Irix will be especially challenging as I noticed once I got home and opened the blister that her muzzle has a horrid mold glitch and is missing all the detail of the mouth. I've greenstuff and a dremel but I doubt my rusty chops are up to this one. She'll be a nice exercise in prepping, assembly and blending at least.

I'll ramble on some more about the projects I'm going to start with some other time as this is already loooooooong.

Glad to see someone return to the hobby, I fade in and out every few years. I just wanted to point out that Rackham is and will still be producing metal models, just not as many. Their main distribution will be prepaints for the latest edition of AT-42 and Confrontation but they are also doing the Rackham Legends series which is staying in white metal.

There may be an issue getting these though if you are in North America, Fatnasy Flight was distributing Rackham over here and they very recently decided to cut those ties. To my knowledge a new NA distributer hasn't been found. On a similar note Rackham itself was recently sold and purchased, so everything may be about to change, though the new owners claim they are going to keep up the same thing the old were doing.
