Any opinion of my work is appreciated even if it means I have to hunt you down. And get an avatar. As long as I can put a name and a face(?) together there is recognition.

i just have a darkside that says \"their minis are awfull! they don\'t know what they are talking about\"
which is just rubbish and a dire character flaw. i just thought it might be a common one.
You\'re right, it is dire... but probably pretty common given how often people pop up on the forums and loudly denounce someone for daring to criticise what they can\'t do...\'just you try sculpting and *then* you can say it looks like a mis-shapen poo\'
I love feedback from all quarters (yep, I\'m a feedback \'ho), and find all the different \'how I do it\' posts really handy too. No matter who they come from! Everyone has different ideas and backgrounds so they come up with a whole range of cool stuff, regardless of how golden-demony their painting may or may not be.
Like eyes (just as an example) - it was someone I\'d never really heard of (and don\'t remember now sadly) on minipainter a couple of years ago who explained how they did eyes, and I\'ve been using it ever since. Haley\'s tutorial in the CMON book has a bit on eyes, and I just don\'t like the way she lines them (although I like some of the info there). Each to their own.
So, um, yeah - to answer your original query, I\'d rather have heaps of different \'how I do it\'s from all kinds of different people than one or two posts from just a few people - where\'s the variety and the opportunity to adapt a hundred different ideas together to get better?
Also, I think it\'s useful for everyone at every different \'level\' if all kindsa folk post - if I\'ve just picked up a brush, it\'s probably going to be more intimidating than helpful to read something on colour theory, senmm, blending, complementary shading (etc). If someone else who is a bit ahead of me has posted some very handy tips about say paint thinning or different ways to blackline, drybrushing or layering tips - well, that\'s going to be pretty handy isn\'t it?
I mean, who\'s the audience here? everyoneSo why shouldn\'t everyone post? I generally try to be helpful in posts and comments, and if it\'s a bit of advice or an idea the person can use, great - if not, they\'re welcome to ignore it and get ideas from somewhere else. But if only a couple of people ever posted, then their word would be gospel and we\'d all paint the same...
That\'d suck.
My painting has improved so much since joining cmon, some through direct advice and some through osmosis, and I\'ve now got a bunch of stuff in the 8s rather than when I joined and posted things that were mostly 6-ish (my dream is now 9\'s... mmm, shiny, sexy, playing-hard-to-get 9\'s...).
I don\'t want to imply though that comments from uber-painters are somehow devalued because they\'re speaking from lofty heights and out of touch with the peasants... cos that\'d be silly. I\'m just trying to (in my usual, long-winded way) make the point that everyone has something to offer.
There, done (and my avatar is new, someone tell me it\'s pretty.... lol )

Did I hear my name? It must be me, the OTHER funny guy in the forum is Chrispy, but he\'s got a lot of pics posted... Or perhaps there is another prolific poster without credited pics...
