These are some press molds I made for Armorcast. Call them what you will but the leaves are more or less - Maple, Aspen, Oak. They are 3-4mm long and 2-3mm wide. They have stems and veins.

I used Pro Create putty which cures pliable. Use a toothpick or plastic sharpened too to pry them out of the mold. DON\'T use metal tools. The molds are out of pewter and easily scarred. I used baby powder, Vaseline, and wax. Wax worked the best and Vaseline the next. I made little BB\'s of putty and with a small tool pushed these into each leaf hole. Sounds like a hassle but it all went fairly quickly. I honestly havn\'t played much with these so I don\'t know too much other than they do work well with a little effort.

I put two birch seeds to show a size comparison.

Would plaster work, Shaun?

It may.........they come out VERY thin, whatever you use. You might try mixing in some white glue with your plaster to give it some flexibility. The trick with all molding is that you can put anything INTO a mold, the real proof is getting same OUT of the mold. Wax, spray on silicon or something like that would be a plus. You might need to pry a little and tap a little. Try it and let us know how it works.

They\'re an excellent idea! Have you tried using a bit of old sprue to mould them? They\'d set it seconds and would just need cutting off. I reckon they\'d even curl up nicely as you sliced them....

You mean heating up the end and squishing that into the mold? Sounds good............I\'ll try that this morning and let you know.

Yep.

Those things are a seriously cool idea Shawn. How about some bolts/ screws/ rivets? Door handles, hinges? Small control panels or keypads would be cool too.
