Liz’s New Knee

Letting ya’ll know Liz has started her journey to pain free knees , we crawled out of bed at 4:30 am PST and Roger and her are at the hospital right now. Surgery starts at around 7:30 am and should end around 9:30 am (ballpark figures). Roger is staying at the hospital until she is awake, so it’s going to be a long day for him and he doesn’t get any happy drugs to boot.

Will post more when Roger calls, if all goes to plan Liz should be released Saturday.

My inlaws both had knee surgery, and it's made a world of difference to them.

Update …. Roger called … Liz is now in recover to wake up ….. Operation went smoothly no problems very little blood loss ……….. From what Roger was told the knee was in worse shape then the Doctors expected ….Roger is staying with her as long as he can or until Liz nags him to get home and rest.

Once they move her up to a room, have Roger ask for a recliner so he can catch a few z's himself.

Well, I've been back for a little bit. Had something to drink and eat and flopped on the floor for a while.

It was a little longer in the recovery room for Liz as she was sick from the anesthesia, but I eventually got to see her. She was very tired and still a bit woosy, not entirely alert yet. They have her leg in some contraption which is getting it to move to help the rehab whilst she's in the hospital bed. I left just as the PT arrived to set up some other contraption around the bed. I told her I'd send her love to everyone.

Oh, and there was not enough space for a recliner.

Went to see Liz this afternoon. The anesthetic and pain meds are sorted and so are not upsetting her stomach and so she was able to hold down food. She's also been walking a bit with the walker. She's doing better than she herself expected.

Totally agree.
There's few I've dealt with who think all patients they see are Waaaay below them.
Fortunately my GP is "Down to earth" and has a good sense of humour, and the consultant I've been seeing takes his kids into GW.

Hello Folks! I'm home finally. Morphine is not all it's cracked up to be. I was sick for a day and a half. Just wanted to type a quick note to say thanks for all the wishes. I love you guys!

So I had my 1st session with the physicall terrorist today Thanks for that phrase Kev!). I don't think they could have found anyone with a more boring voice in the whole world! He says I'm doing extremely well and thinks I'll be off the walker in about 10 days time. He'll be coming out again near the end of the week. In the mean time he's given Roger instructions on how to terrorize me. Can you believe it?! Pushed around by my own mop boy!
