Crisis #3 was the inside of the cape.

1st try: Simply blending White+Pink - Pink - Violet.

The cape became too dark, there were some "oakum" (if this is the right word) got into the paint/onto the figure and the transitions were horrible:

2nd try: Pink basecoat (5 layers!)

The cape became too saturated and too shiny, it was impossible to paint Violet shades on that shiny surface.

Furthermore the paint got too thick, removed everything w/ some spirit

3rd try: Pink + white Basecoat, Violet shades

Not too saturated, somewhat brighter, but more matte, so it could be worked with, but took a very long time:

Needs some work behind his back, thou.

By the way, is there a good SBS for painting transitions on a big, plain area?
And I do not mean Ben Komets' style "this should be done in this way in 3 seconds" like it was done on "The Gang" dog, but something which covers the errors, and helps us how to fix them, too.

just an idea you might or might not like for shading /highlighting purple as blending purple a PITA for me.
If you can try using soft-pastels (not oil-pastels) or pigments. It's ridiculously easy and fast to do soft transitions with them especially on larger surfaces like cloaks.
Just basecoat pink, apply pigment/pastel of a magenta , then a purple (or just straight purple) in the hollows and some white/light pink on the 'raised' parts.

helmet is painted with dry pigments only: http://www.coolminiornot.com/387467 (basecoat was white or ivory)
as is the armor and weapon: http://www.coolminiornot.com/375065 (aside from the basecoat of grey)

aaand I have no idea what you mean by "pushed the black". (same for SBS, wtf is SBS?)

push the black: To increase the contrast by adding/deepening the blacks
SBS: step-by-step

But this is my hunglish interpretation of the Holy English language, and I am a well known heretic

So I was on vacation and had some quality time with my family, but finally back to painting.

Done almost all the freehand on the back of the cape:

I was thinking on more, but this minimalist Slaanesh logo was the best I could think of.
The deep folds on the back of the cape did not help me to find out a more elaborated design.

I will mirror the edge pattern on the pink side, too.

Great to see this guy finished up and based. There's lots to like here like the armour, shield and face but that blend on that sword!!!!!! Absolutely superb!

I don't know why, but this makes me want to go back and re-read the Elric novels. Really looks great when combined with the base.

Thanks, DarthMarsh,

I think later I will revisit the debris and the hair later this year, but I think that the sword and the shield are the best parts, too.
