Shade the white warmer with some yellow and cooler with some purple/grey. That will tie it all into his armor maybe.

I was(or more correctly, my children were :) ) on vacation, but now have some time to post my progress.

What I actually did not expect (this is my first SM) is that the shoulder pad is BIG!

BTW I used the same ArmourBrown:GunshipGreen 1:1 mix I used as shading for the main body to glaze the shoulder pad. Strangely it resulted in a reddish tone, not a greenish one:

Awesome work, my friend! Your first one? No way. Too good.
The details on the checkered shoulder pad really take this guy to another level for me.

Well, I feel that the result of my studies (like Ben Komets' Painting Buddha videos, to paint the Stormcast Eternal was very similar experience) are getting stabilized, and I do feel that I can paint on this level consistently.
TBH I was afraid to start this mini, took me a while to begin with it.

Furthermore almost all of my models can be seen here or in my gallery ;)

That's awesome, not just the paint but the photography is perfect too. Love the shading on the marine. How are you going to base him ? Something opposite to make him stand out ?

have to agree, looks super.

Knowing how the other entries are usually I have a hunch, that this will get a prize of a light yellowish color. :)
Unless you create a really bad base, but I think the base you choose will look good too.

Thanks, but these were made just with two lamps, a ~$100 Tesco Phone, from ~10cm, then autotuned with snapseed, cropped and resized to 50%.

Well, I could not really paint in the last couple of days, but I would like to show my progress on the Space Marine base.

First I painted the ground with different color layers, like VMC 70822 German Camo Black Brown, VMC 70872 Chocolate Brown, VMC 70859 Black Red and VMC 70873 US Field Drab, then added some Nuln Oil wash, and dry brushed with some light VMC 70843 Cork Brown.

The grill was painted with VAC 71065 Steel, then received some Nuln Oil wash.
The big pipe was painted with VAC 71065 Steel, but was blended with VMC 70950 Black.
The small pipe was painted with GC 72060 Tinny Tin.

Separator band is the usual ArmourBrown:GunshipGreen 1:1 mix and JapaneseUniform stripes.

The pipes were weathered with ModelMates rust effect:

The stripes look good. I always seem to have problemes executing straight lines and stripes and yours are spot on.

Hi KruleBear!

The stripes were kind of easy (meaning it succeeded on 2nd time :) ).
The band is 2mm wide, and I draw a line across it with a sharp pencil 2mm from each other, then connected the lines diagonally, looked like: |/| |/| |/| |/| |/| |/|
Trick is to balance the metal ruler on the middle of the base :)
