Lone Lemming's WIP

Nice. With the beautiful freehand on the mini, I think the wall could use some dirtied freehand graffiti.

My two cents, for what it's worth: I think you are right with the desaturation - the figure itself is fairly desaturated, so it isn't standing out from the background.
Maybe make the background darker?

My problem was that everything got too turquoise, as DarkSeaBlue and PaleBlue have these colors in common. One of my solution was so far making the asphalt darker (using VMC 70.995 German Grey) and the wall warmer (using VMC 70.884 Stone Grey).

The figure is looking great, and the base is very fitting for him. Great work

Thanks, CC!

It's hard to say without the mini on it, but I think you are on the right track wrt the wall and asphalt colors.
And the freehand graffiti looks cool!

At the and of the year I could not really get myself to paint, but decided to get rid of (=paint them all) all my metal minis.

Starting with some TTQ troll (of course this is the only kind of troll which will be discontinued), creating the whole squad, see the beginning of the topic:

The trolls were painted with airbrush, base is VMA 71.014 Gunship Green and VGC 72.150 Heavy Ochre, highlighted with 1:1 mix of VMA 71.001 White and VMA 71.002 Medium yellow, then washed with Citadel Athonian Camoshade.

Thanks Krule!

I had, however, some problems painting this mini, more specified I bought and tried airbrushing Mr. Hobby Metal Primer.

Seems that undiluted it is an excellent spider web generator:

Anybody ever used this? It created and excellent surface, but sadly it created thin filaments on the mini, too. Luckily this was just a low quality TTQ mini, and some of these could go as veins, but anyway.

BTW Here are the finished minis, the goal was to paint them in similar way as my first troll:

Just for the record:
Blue is VGC 72.143 Heavy Blue, highlighted with VGC 72.023 Electric Blue.
Purple is VGC 72.142 Heavy Violet, highlighted with VGC 72.015 Hexed Lichen, VMC 70.958 Pink and VGC 72.013 Squid Pink.
Red is VGC 72.141 Heavy Red, highlighted with some skin color.
Wood is 1:1 mix of VGC 72.141 Heavy Red and VGC 72.154 Heavy Sienna
All of the above were shaded with Citadel Agrax Earthshade.
Bone is VGC 72.154 Heavy Sienna, highlighted with VGC 72.140 Heavy Skintone and VGC 72.034 Bonewhite

Never used any of the Mr Hobby supplies. MaM might be your best bet there. Trolls look good though buddy, nice bellys on them.

Ahh, where is the cool soldier ? oO

The hello kitty wall looks great! Please, please, please finish it.
Although, I'm literally the last person on earth to say this ... wtih a WIP to finished ration of roughly 30:1 -.- But you've come so far ! ^^ xD

But the trols look great too. Really like the green and I love to paint greenskins too :) It's very relaxing and you can go completly crazy on anything "orcish".

Thank you Fox! Finished trolls are at the bottom of the post.

It's a slow progress now, in the background.

First of all I used some oil wash, and it takes days to dry. Furthermore I noticed the copper brush is not the perfect tool to scratch the surface of the sidewalk and the road, I am still thinking to get some asphalt texture, or mixing bicarbonate with some acrylic paste. But it is almost ready, though as my DSLR is somewhere in Japan, you have to get along with phone pictures:

The barrel is finished, too:

Thank you very much! There will be a local competition here in a month, I will definitely finish it by then. I helps to motivate myself finishing my pieces. (Meaning: you should enter competitions, too!)

It is just something I used to play sometimes with my daughters (they play with the gobbos), and I just don't put too much effort into it, especially as I do not think that GW will continue supporting their common dwarfes :( At least I did not collect Bretonnians or Tomb Kings, but by the time I finished painting my armies, the Sigmarhammer struck. :(
So my daughters have a cool army, updated right now, but I do not know what to do with my army.

But here are finished trolls:

Conclusion: Flockbox is sh*t for 6mm static grass, but incredibly perfect for 2mm ones.

That wall is coming along nicely, can't wait to see the finished piece.
And the trolls look amazing, nicely detailed. The contrast you've got gives them real depth.

Thanks, gorb, but TBH the troll colors are a bit off, I tried to adjust the contrast on the last image, but was not so successful. When I get my DSLR back, I will be able to post better pictures.

BTW started working on an Imperial Agent Crane Rank given to Angel Giraldez' Masterclass Vol 2.

General shading color will be 1:1 mix of VMC 70.960 Violet and VMC 70.950 Black, highlight will be 70.918 Ivory.

Cloak (loincloth and asscloth???) was painted with VMC 70.838 Emerald, highlighted up to 1:1.

Yellow was tested with VMC 70.913 Yellow Ochre, but was too bland, I stayed with VMC 70.948 Golden Yellow:

Ah okay ^^ Already thought wether you tried some "shiny armor" effect with the pink/purple.
The yellow on the boots looks very good so far.
Interesting color sheme. Keep it up. Excited to see your progress for that purple NMM.

Dr. Bob

but not THAT Dr. Bob
Was just quickly scrolling through and my eye was caught by your barrel! So good!!! (Not that the rest of your work isn't excellent, but somehow that bullet ridden rusty barrel just looked perfect!)
