I would really like to get some comments and helpful tips for improving my skills at painting figurines. I typically paint CAV mechs from Reaper, but I have a greater interrest in working with fantasy based figurines...sword and magic...demons and dragons...

I will post more of my creations as I progress and would really appreciate some constructive criticism and useful tips from everyone. I have sen some really awesome work in here and would love to hear from those "pros"...lol

Hi Spaztica, ok with no pictures I'm not sure where you are with painting... but speaking as a long time painter who sorely wants to improve his technique after a long break, I would say to target one specific technique at a time umtil you get it down. So at the moment I'm working on NMM (non metallic metal) on swords for now, and when I get better I'll branch out onto armour and stuff.

Also paint diverse subjects, I painted one specific type of space marine for years and got into a major rut, and also kinda stopped enjoying the painting because of it. I often buy a random mini and paint it just to keep things fresh.

Might sound a no brainer but also expand your paints collection, struggling along with 10 paints is ok for starters but can really hold you back later. And experiment with different brands too.

As for learning technique, there are plenty of guides out there, I use youtube as a first port of call, or this place ;) If you're learning a new thing, be prepared to fail sometimes, it's part o the process!
