Looking for cheap (resin?) display plinths

I want to buy a batch of display plinths to base all my showcase minis on. This shouldn\'t be too expensive, the plinths shouldn\'t be painted. I think resin is the cheapest material? A basic shape like square ones is ok, maybe some cylindrical ones.

Does anyone know of a cheap online store which sells these?

I third it, but since you are oversees (for Dragonforge, that is) so I would check shipping.

As already suggested, get to a toy shop & look at the wooden building blocks.

Check pound shops for Salt & Pepper grinders, the top bits (when unscrewed are often quite nice looking.

Visit local \"head\" shop or market stall & look for wooden \"grinders\". At a pound each you get 2 turned wooden bases.

Local \"trophy\" shop, you know, cups for winner of local 5 aside league & the like. Loads of wooden & plastic bases. If they\'re friendly they may let you go through their supplier catalogue to place a specific order.

That\'s all that springs to mind for now...

\"head\" shop - repository for retail sale of large size cigarette papers, hookahs & other non-traditional pipes & smoking related ephemera. Also often stock large amounts of tacky Grey Alien Smoking A Spliff type T-Shirts, keyrings for the UK Yoof. if you\'re lucky you might find a Robert Crumb or Gilbert shelton comic tucked into the corner. A Grinder is used for breaking up plant matter for easier use. B.

his p+p isn\'t that bad, others more locally may be cheaper, thats all. his quality is superb though!

try and pm TyronMagda, they are based in italy so it may be cheaper. nice couple too

as for plynths, i would highly reccomend using tops and lids. there are loads of weird but good shapes which we chuck out every day. they are often sturdy enough but are easy to cut if you want to

also hobby shops and hardware shops have weird wooden bits and bobs. i bought some the other day but have no idea what their original purpose was. doorhandles are a good one

I have several of the flat top mini-plinth and they are superb ... and as Dragon Forge stated himself, the shipping to Europe is very reasonable.

IF for some strange reason you can\'t find something good at DFD (not likely), or don\'t trust the mail to properly handle things these days (very likely) and decide to go for something cheap even after S&H quoted up above as only $5 shipping from DFD......

You could try finials (sp) fromthings like stairs posts of drape rods, and such in the right size from a hardware store.

What about casting your own plinths? I tried to google it, but didn\'t get any useful results.

Anyone tried it?

i\'ve tried it but not with any proper casting stuff. i cast a few lids using siligum and it worked fairly well. a couple o bubbles which caused strange outgrowths on the final thing but i filed them down. just used some very strong p.o.p to cast. did it in 2 goes with some styrene in the middle to lighten it a bit too
