Looking for gothic Marines ideas

Hey !

I'm starting a new Space Marines army project and I'm looking for ideas , I want them too look like very gothic , religious , fanatic , stubborn and devoted but I don't really know how .

So if you have artworks , ideas of sculpting , minis , bits or advises I can use please tell me !

Think I was pretty much beat to it, but yeah Black Templars are a good way to go.

If you want to do something a little more of all those things though there's a few things you can add to the BT "template".

- Full robes instead of tabards. Dark Angels style robes with religious depictions on them or styled in the form of Imperial clergy pictured in the 40k rulebook.
- a miter on chaplains or command models.
- religious head coverings or icons
- Scarification of imperial symbols on their foreheads.
- flails and scourges, along with welts and scars on any exposed skin, or chipped paint effects on armor.

There's several other art pieces you can look at. Anything involving Chaos Cultists, or Empire Flagellants. Both are good existing examples of great religious extremism on two sides of the coin, so modifying ideas from both to fit the Imperial cult would work well.

I looked at the SoB/Inquisition and that's the kind of things I'm looking for , braseros , books , skulls etc ...

I like the Black Templars but I don't really like their " knight & crusade " aspect , I mean I would like something with more skulls , scrolls , seals , bones and fire but I'm going to use some Black Templars parts/bits/minis and to convert them .

I prefer loin clothes rather than robes because I would like to do a lot of work on the chests .

Just remember when you paint the faces to give them plenty of black eye shadow and pale skin...oh.. you said gothIC , not goth... my bad.

those symbols look great, especially the first one...

simple enough to be freehanded, yet complicated enough to be interesting....

did you plan on using 2 (or even 3) colors for the freehand??

i like the winged hour glass theme in your emblem "tempus fu jit " time flies,brings up all kinds of possibility's for a chapter name.
oh before i forget you could design a new range of weaponry from the dark age of technology vortex weapons stuff like that(see soul drinkers books for the fluff)
