Looking for Info on casting your own sculpts*

im looking for sites or general info from people who have done it

stuff like what brands are the best(or is there any major difference), the differences between resin and metal casts, silicone, rubber moulds and all that other stuff

also how to prepare a sculpt for casting(how/when to cut it and stuff)

any info i can get

The first thing you should do is join the Yahoo! Group called \"1listSculpting\" -- not only is there a wealth of miniatures sculptors who read the list who would be experienced in that kind of thing, but they have a ton of FAQ documents and other reference files that would be of help, as well.

The Yahoo! Groups called \"casting\" and \"homecasting\" would probably be helpful as well.

Yeah I\'ll seccond the Hirstarts stuff there\'s a wealth of usefull info about casting for resin and plaster. Unfortunately it isn\'t all that good for minis as you can only cast stuff with a flat base using the methods shown.

If you want to know more about resin and RTV mould goo etc go on their forums and look for a guy called Elliot, he knows just about all there is to know about how to use it and where to get it.
