Looking for pictures of "ray gun" style weapons in miniature form

I need them for a non-miniature project. I'm designing a ray gun that i intend to 3d render and have printed. 1:1 scale. The grip and stock would be CNC'd out of wood (I know a guy.)

The designs I have so far are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/phrawggmak/sets/72157625623796874/
along with links to the things that inspired me.

One thing I've noticed is that most steampunk props tend to look similar. I'm trying to stay away from anything with a conventional gun barrel though if you can point me towards some clever gun designs, I'll still take it. Despite my preferences, I'll take any ray gun images you can think of.

Direct energy weapons of any kind will do too. Just not 40k weapons.

edit: Just thought of something else:

as for my designs, they're supposed to be a combination of steampunk and what 1930's scifi would look like if updated and made slightly less stylized. Your input is needed!

Thanks very much!

Not a "ray" gun but I love the design nonetheless. the Tesla Beaton prototype from Fallout 3

Some more odd weapons from that genre that could work:

Here's one that I found pretty damn awesome:

And of course, the classic

this one looks quite easy to make:

that's all I can come up with for now... hope it helps somehow. :)

I have not had a chance to visit all of the wonderful links you guys have submitted. I only just got back to the thread today this morning unfortunately.

In the meantime, I drew these up based on the smallest of the Weta designs as well as that camera gun thing:

I've gotten a variety of responses to it from my friends and I wanted to ask you guys too. My girlfriend objects that they look too much like squirt guns. Some other friends both agree that the gun seems to have too little visual mass to justify a butt stock.

My brother said to simplify them further.

Another friend of mine liked one of the earlier ones the best because it was the most cumbersome-looking one. "It looks like its straight out of Warehouse 13!"

Meanwhile my girlfriend never liked the dish on the front because she said it looks like its designed to deflect rather than emit.

What do you think?

After having drawn them I'm on the fence about the choice of muzzle. Ideally it would be nice to be able to safely carry this thing out in the open in public if need be so it would have to look decidedly un-gun-like at the front.

Also I'm torn between curves and straight lines. Projectile arms, with the exception of the Vektor CR21, tend not to have curves in their bodywork. They have a simple straight axis. However I like curves even if subtle. But in the end its an issue of what would look the best at a glance.

I've rethought the story behind this thing btw. I think whatever it will be, it would have been part of class of direct-energy ray guns that were derived from those used at construction sites on the Moon. IRL, moonrock and moondust can be melted with microwaves so perhaps on lunar colonies, these guns would've been used to seal walls of tunnels cut in the rock. The gun should be compact, like the size of an SMG.

Thanks again!
