\'Ello everyone!

I\'m currently sitting here at my table and working on my Daemon army by painting my plague bearers and I\'m wondering how I want to present these guys. These guys are supposed to be all rotting, decarying, and pestiulant, and while I do normally like the matte finish of my paints, I\'m looking for something to give the unit a slimy look. I\'ve been looking around on the internet and I found a look that I like.

I like the look of this army a ton: http://z7.invisionfree.com/wyrmling_x/index.php?showtopic=5301

It\'s a Khorne army and I do plan on getting my bloodletters to look the same as well, so I\'m essentially knocking out two birds with one stone on this one. In the article he says he uses minwax, but could I do the same with wood varnish? I want my plauge bearers and my blood letters to have a little bit of slickness to them, but not obnoxiously.

Any tips would be great!

You know what I would reccomend is to just paint normally, seal the figs normally and then go over the gooey/fleshy bits in vallejo brush on gloss varnish. I use it for prepping areas for decals and I think it would accomlish the effect you\'re after without looking too obnoxious.

Give it a shot, and it would have the advantage of being able to have some parts like the blades and such you\'re normal matte way and the other parts another way.

a satin varnish will give you a finish that is slightly glossy but not too much. try that. you can always add matte or gloss if it isnt to your taste

if you want some depth, to your gore mix a little water effects, doesn\'t matter whos, or acrylic gel (art shop) it dries clear and gives you the thickness you may be seeking

Minwax is a brand, doesn\'t = wax. He uses a polyurethane varnish made by them, which many wood varnishes are.

So, yes.
