I\'m looking for anything I can find that will help me past the level of painting I\'m at now. I\'ve noticed a few DVD\'s that are out from Steel Dog and Kaple, but wanted to be sure I\'m not missing anything else.

I\'m also curious if anyone ever saw, or heard of a guide put out by Bobby Wong? I remember these on E-bay so many years back and think they might have pulled it due to GW policy. AM I right in that there was one out?

ANything that has helped you out tutotial wise would be appreciated! For those of us who are just now beginning to search, posting links to what you know would help us out greatly!

Thanks,

D

I have both the Kaple and the Steeldog videos. They both have very beneficial elements. I\'m a bit more partial to the Steeldog videos, simply because of the enormous video content you get.

Darkson Designs has a very good painting book. My biggest complaint with that is some of the \"guide\" is nothing more than color recipes.

Personally, I reckon you can find much of what you need on the web. The articles section here is pretty nifty. Chest of Colours has some cool stuff too. Darksons will be releasing another guide soon, and I suspect that it will be a big improvement over the first one (which was still good...)

I like http://www.brushthralls.com/ Some nice and usuable tutorials there for many different levels of painting.

I have bought Andreas \"painting figures\" CD. It is ok but for Historical miniature, not very extensive though.

I agree 100% with Scott. Internet is a wonderful tool to learn and find inspiration. Another thing that will help is practicing. Books, DVDs, Internet, ... they\'ll all teach you how to do things but unless you take the time to get used to a technic and work on it, you won\'t get better. Post your WIPs in the \"Work in Progress\" thread and get feedback that way. It\'s faster than comments and it gives you time to rework what needs to be redone before you post it in your gallery.

Read everything you can get your hands on about painting, you never know what might come in handy later, even if it\'s from an oil-painting book or something like that. There is a lot of good stuff (and some not-so-good stuff of course) out there online, same for books actually, and it\'s well worth reading through it all as sometimes figuring how not to do something is almost as useful as learning how you would like to work.

Study the work of painters you admire, see if you can figure out how something is done by really thinking about what you\'re looking at.

Ask questions here and in other fora about specific things you have trouble with.

And above all, practice a lot and you almost can\'t help but get better (if not actually good).
